Casteel Shows Depth, Wins Section 7 Bracket

Section 7 focused on some of Arizona's popular teams, but Casteel orchestrated a very impressive weekend. They showed discipline and toughness, and their players focused on a "team first" mentality, which led them to win a championship in their bracket. This team is young, and its future is bright. The following players played a huge role this past weekend.    Alexa is fun to watch. She is very fast and plays with a high motor on both sides of the ball, which is one of her biggest strengths. She has a very high basketball IQ for being a young player. She is very aggressive and unafraid to attack gaps in the defense. She can shoot from the perimeter and create her own shot inside the paint. Defensively, she plays with tenacity. She is not afraid to compete and do the dirty work for her team that may not show up on a game's stat sheet. Alexa is tough, and that explains why Casteel will be a threat and a contender moving forward.     Kylee is young, but plays with poise. Kylee has good court vision and can make plays in half-court and in transition. She has very good hand-eye coordination and can create her shot with both hands. She knows how to separate from her player if she wants to get a shot off. What stands out about Kylee is her potential as a player. She will continue to grow and gain experience, but during Section 7, Kylee demonstrated a high basketball IQ. Kylee makes great decisions on the floor and takes care of the ball well, without many mistakes. She has a very quick first step, which constantly keeps defenders off balance.     Vivian is a very good basketball player. She attacks the basket well and can score and create opportunities for herself and her teammates. Vivian competes hard and has good size. She rebounds well and can transition defense into offense. She is very tough and communicates well on the floor. She has the physical tools to develop into a really good player.     Reese has a lot of potential. Reese has good court vision, being so young. She is very confident with basketball and knows how to get her team involved. Reese displayed flashes of knowing how to facilitate for her team. She is a good passer. She competes with effort and has a high motor. Reese will continually get game experience, which will help her grow her game. On the defensive side of the ball, she communicates well and stays in front of the offensive player. She moves her feet well and will only get stronger with more playing time and experience.     Emily has a good size. Emily also has good length, which allows her to disrupt offenses. When she plays defense, her length helps create deflections. She can know what's next. She has good basketball IQ and shows awareness on the court. As a point guard, Emily has a good understanding of basketball and appears to make smart decisions at such a young age. As Emily keeps playing, college coaches should be mindful that Emily will only continue to grow and get better. She has a nice perimeter shot and is not afraid to drive the ball to the basket. Emily has good ball-handling skills.     Taylin has a lot of upside to her game. Taylin is a multi-sport athlete who also plays volleyball. Taylin has good footwork and timing. What stands out about Taylin is her athleticism. Taylin's experience playing volleyball has helped her react faster to basketball plays. She has good coordination and good lateral movement. Taylin communicates well on the court and plays with a lot of energy. She works hard on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. Taylin's experience with volleyball will help her play basketball more easily. Taylin also has good rebounding skills.
