Saturday brought plenty of familiar faces and talented players we already knew about, but one of the best parts of tournament weekends is discovering new talent. There's always a player who catches your eye, makes a few winning plays, and earns a spot on the scouting list.

Last weekend was no different. We found several players who were either new to us or had improved enough to demand another look. Here are some of the players we added to our watch list after a strong weekend in the gym.

Alta's Incoming Trio

[player_tooltip player_id='1872421' first='Adella' last='De Azevedo'], [player_tooltip player_id='1872424' first='Pilar' last='Lopez'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1872423' first='Emma' last='Belfiore']

One thing Alta will have going for it next season is a freshman class that already looks capable of stepping onto the varsity floor and holding its own. The future is bright, especially in the backcourt.

Pilar and Emma both play with a poise that exceeds their years. They handle pressure well, take care of the basketball, and show the composure and decision-making of much older players. Their ability to control the tempo and not get sped up should allow them to contribute early.

Adelle brings another dimension with her size and versatility. She has the length to impact the paint but also the mobility and skill set to slide anywhere from the two through the five. She embraces contact, battles inside, and posts up well against nearly any defender. If she can improve her discipline and cut down on fouls, she'll become an even bigger asset because her ability to stay on the floor could make her a major contributor to Alta's rotation.

[player_tooltip player_id='1872427' first='Kalei' last='Crockett']

One of our favorites of the day was Kalei. She plays with a nonstop motor and never seems to take possession off. Defensively, she stays active and applies pressure, while offensively, she has the speed and explosiveness to blow by defenders and finish creatively at the rim. Her ability to score with an up-and-under move and reverse layup was particularly impressive.

What really stood out was her pace. Time and again, she went from the backcourt to being the first player down the floor, pressuring shots and creating havoc in transition. Her speed is elite, but it's her relentless energy and refusal to slow down that make her such an impactful player. She plays every possession at full speed, and that motor changes games.

[player_tooltip player_id='1415943' first='Haven' last='Acra']

Haven was a steady and reliable presence on the floor all day. She plays with patience, has a good feel for the game, and reads the floor well. What stood out most was her ability to establish deep post position and get her defender sealed on her hip. Once she gets a player pinned, she creates a high-percentage scoring opportunity, although her team didn't consistently look to reward her for the work.

She also showed maturity in a tight game environment, never appearing rushed or panicked when possessions became critical. That poise and composure are traits that translate well to the next level. As she continues to develop and becomes more assertive, demanding touches, her ability to control space in the paint and stay composed under pressure could make her a very impactful post player.

[player_tooltip player_id='1872439' first='Riley' last='Brown']

Riley just seemed to be in all the right places at the right time. She has a natural feel for the game and a knack for anticipating where the next play will happen. Defensively, she was quick to rotate and step in to stop driving players when help was needed, often preventing easy baskets.

Offensively, she found open windows and passing lanes, making herself available for quick touches and easy scoring opportunities. Her instincts, court awareness, and timing allowed her to impact the game without forcing the action. She's the type of player who consistently makes winning plays simply because she has a high basketball IQ and understands where she needs to be on the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='1872442' first='Makelle' last='Thompson']

Makelle's length is a major asset and translates well to multiple areas of her game. Defensively, she's highly effective as the top defender in a full-court press, using her wingspan to take away passing angles, force ball handlers to change direction, and create deflections.

Offensively, that same length helps her find open spaces and present herself as an easy target for passes. She moves well without the ball, finds gaps in the defense, and makes herself available as an outlet. Her combination of length, activity, and court awareness makes her a valuable two-way player who impacts possessions on both ends of the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='1872443' first='Faith' last='Hallows']

A young player with plenty of potential, she already shows an advanced feel for the game. She reads ball movement well, understands spacing, and consistently makes herself available as an offensive option. When she isn't the scoring opportunity, she's quick to do the little things that create offense, like setting screens and helping teammates get open.
