Saturday saw the end of a weekend of some good basketball. Some teams were comprised of high school players, while others showed up with their respective clubs. What we found were some new faces that are just getting their talent noticed, and some players who we've seen before but are beginning to show they are the new ones to watch. Here's a look at the veterans in the gym from today.

The squad at Alta had some players who we have seen written about before, but what we saw today was a confidence and flow that shows their next generation of varsity players are learning how to see each other on the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='1277750' first='Elise' last='Baldassano']

Elise was in her bag today. Time and again, she got her defender on her hip, used that advantage to turn the corner, and split the defense on her way to the basket. She looked comfortable, confident, and in complete control, making plays on both ends of the floor.

Defensively, her on-ball pressure disrupted opposing point guards all game long. She made ball handlers uncomfortable, forced mistakes, and turned that pressure into several steals and transition opportunities.

The next step in her offensive evolution is the three-point shot. If she starts confidently taking and knocking down the open three, it will force defenses to close out harder, opening even more driving lanes and making her an even bigger offensive threat for the Hawks next season.

[player_tooltip player_id='952616' first='Isabelle' last='Lewis'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1324069' first='Khloe' last='Horrocks']

Two players who logged significant varsity minutes last season, Izzy and Khloe were constantly running the floor and showing their versatility, seamlessly shifting anywhere from the two through the five. Their ability to play multiple positions gives their team a lot of flexibility on both ends of the floor.

Izzy's handle is exceptional for her size and position. She's comfortable bringing the ball up, attacking off the bounce, and initiating offense. Khloe, meanwhile, is a disruptive presence, especially in the paint, where her length and physicality impact shots, rebounds, and passing lanes.

When these two share the floor, their chemistry stands out. They read each other well, anticipate where the other will be, and consistently connect on high-low actions and interior passes. Together, they create matchup problems because both have the skill sets to play inside or out and make winning plays in multiple areas of the game.

[player_tooltip player_id='1661111' first='Jade' last='Kulpa']

Jade was Weber's do-it-all player on Saturday. She rarely came off the floor because she was the engine that made everything go. With tight handles and the ability to get by nearly any defender, she constantly put pressure on the defense and created opportunities for herself and her teammates.

Her motor never stopped. On missed shots, she seemed to come out of nowhere to grab rebounds, secure extra possessions, or force tie-ups. She has an exceptional feel for the game and reads the floor at a high level, often using both offensive and defensive players as natural screens to create driving lanes. Several times, she navigated through traffic, wrapped around the congestion, and finished with a layup at the rim.

She plays with pace, creativity, and a relentless competitive edge, making her the type of player who impacts every possession, even when she isn't the one taking the shot.

[player_tooltip player_id='1092166' first='Maddie' last='Daw']

Maddie showed a level of confidence today that we haven't seen from her before, and it translated into impact plays all over the floor. Her anticipation and ability to jump passing lanes made her a disruptor defensively, coming away with deflections and creating turnovers for her team.

Offensively, she played fearlessly. More than once, she attacked 1-on-3 situations, absorbed contact, and still found ways to finish or earn trips to the free-throw line. She never looked intimidated by traffic or bigger defenders.

What stood out most, though, was her hustle. She was constantly around the ball, sprinting in transition, chasing loose balls, and making effort plays that changed possessions. If she continues to play with this level of confidence and energy, her game could take a significant jump moving forward.
