Players Who Caught My Attention at Cheesehead Challenge

Over the weekend, I got to take in the action in New Berlin at OAW for the 2026 iteration of the Cheesehead Challenge. Over the next two days, we'll look at a few players who stuck out to me on the main courts downstairs at the facility and what they bring to the floor. It was a fun weekend, with a handful of college coaches from the region. That said, let's highlight a few standouts.    The KML guard has continued to improve over her first two high school seasons. Luehring has a combination of physicality and athleticism that makes her a handful for defenders to keep in front. She has excellent footwork around the basket and is willing to play through contact. She brings an edge to the floor that's evident whenever she steps on the court. The rising junior is as complete a player as most in her class, and she keeps finding ways to take her game to another level.     The Grafton guard has the athletic tools to swing any game she's involved in. Tagliapietra excels in multiple sports at the high school level and could run track at a high level if she chooses. On the basketball court, she can create with the ball in her hands, get to her spots, and create for others. I have also grown to appreciate the leadership qualities the rising senior brings to the floor.     The Burlington guard can score the ball from anywhere on the floor. Schmidt has excellent touch and can punish defenses whenever she gets around the basket. I thought she did a solid job finding weaknesses in the defense and getting her spots to score. She doesn't play for a traditional power at the high school level, but there will be regional schools at the next level that will have some interest in her over the next 12 months.     The [program_tooltip program_id='713328' first='Team' last='1848'] guard plays off three scholarship talents well and can pick apart defenses in an off-ball role. Walder may not have been a player who attacked off the dribble much, but she spaced the floor, knocked down shots, and ran the floor well. I can't even count how many times it seemed like Walder got open looks at the basket. She has done a lot to help herself get the attention of college coaches. She plays her role well and has helped her team win and compete against talented programs.
