Underclassmen Who Caught My Eye at the Southeast Region Finals

The Southeast Region Finals brought together some of the top clubs from across the Southeast for a highly competitive weekend at Columbus State University. While there was plenty of talent on display across all age groups, several underclassmen stood out because of their size, length, physicality, playmaking, and long-term potential. Whether it was impacting the game around the rim, seeing the floor, controlling the glass, or showcasing intriguing athletic tools, these young prospects caught my eye throughout the weekend and are names worth keeping on the radar as they continue to develop:    Zhariyah showed a well-rounded scoring ability by finishing comfortably at the rim on either side. She also knocked down the three-point shot consistently which gives her value as a threat at multiple levels of the floor. Zee kept her head up when handling the ball and attacking, allowing her to make smart reads and stay composed under pressure. Her steady motor stood out as well by competing with energy and staying engaged throughout her heavy minutes this weekend.     Kylee is a 2031 prospect who already shows promising feel for the game as a young playmaker. She displayed good instincts throughout her minutes when reading situations and making smart decisions with the ball. Defensively, she contributed with a well-timed block that highlighted her awareness and effort as one of the youngest players on the floor. As she continues to develop physically and gain strength and confidence, she projects as a player to monitor closely with clear long-term potential.     Destinee stood out as an unselfish point guard with strong court vision and a natural feel for distributing the basketball. She consistently made the right reads in transition, including impressive advance passes that pushed the pace and created easy scoring opportunities for her teammates. Offensively, she showed craft as a driver, using a clean step-through move to finish around the rim under control. Her combination of passing ability, decision-making, and guard instincts makes her a steady floor general to track.     Kasey is a left-handed point guard who showed a smooth feel in transition and a natural ability to play with pace. She was effective getting into the lane and used a soft runner to finish over defenders and create scoring opportunities in traffic. In transition, she consistently turned speed into production, generating quick buckets and putting pressure on the defense. A strong baseline drive stood out as she kept her head up and delivered a well-timed pass to a teammate for an easy look, showing solid court vision and decision-making as a lead guard.     Kyleigh showed the qualities of a true point guard with her ability to control tempo while still pushing the pace when opportunities presented themselves. She used a nice hesitation move to create space off the dribble and knocked down multiple long two-point jumpers with confidence. Defensively, her instincts stood out as she jumped passing lanes for steals by reading the offense and anticipating plays before they developed. Kyleigh played with poise throughout, balancing pace and decision-making while consistently putting her team in advantageous positions.     Jamora possesses intriguing size and length that immediately stand out and provide plenty of upside moving forward. Offensively, she showed good touch around the floor and was particularly effective in the mid-range where she consistently looked comfortable getting to her spots. Her ability to elevate on her jumper helped create separation and allowed her to shoot over defenders. With her combination of physical tools and developing scoring ability, Jamora is a prospect worth keeping an eye on as she continues to grow her game.
