Friday marked the beginning of the second "live" period in July. Grassroots teams from all over the state have traveled to Louisville, Chicago, and Hamilton (OH), among other places, to give it one last go before the 2026 season concludes and school begins in August. Playing a little bit of catchup after a busy couple of days, below is a look at some 2027s and 2028s who stood out in Friday's action in Louisville at the Select Summer Championships.

.

I have been a fan of Jadyn's game since between her 8th Grade and Freshman year, and it seems like she has been the victim of circumstance, entering Floyd Central when they are at the peak of their talent. This season, however, could be a standout year for the forward. She is strong and seeks contact, she can box out, defend, and play with a steady demeanor. She's also comfortable and skilled around the perimeter where she can knock down open 3-pointers consistently. I think she can be a really nice small college face-up '4' who will also get inside to rebound/defend.

Friday was my first time seeing Shanelle, and I think she could be a small college "sleeper" for someone. She is extremely long for her height, she is quick, fast, and bouncy like a track kid, but she also has the skill to play both on and off the ball. She typically plays a '2' for this KYP team, but she is aggressive and looks to attack the basket on every catch. She gets downhill easily, she has some shiftiness to her game, and her shot mechanics are solid. I also like the effort she gives at the defensive end of the floor. She was very active and involved when I saw her.

Carly has been one of my favorites to watch over the past couple of years, because she is all out all the time, and she doesn't back down from anyone. She has length, speed and quickness, plus she does a solid job of changing speeds without forcing the action and turning it over much at all. She has a pretty stroke from the perimeter, but she is tough and will attack the basket as well. She also plays with a lot of swag and will go back and forth with players as/more talented than herself, matching shot for shot. She is crafty defensively as well, but a little more discipline there wouldn't hurt.

This was my first opportunity to see Teagan in action, and after she put together a nice Winter for Northfield, I was curious to see what she brings to the table. She is a fairly strong athlete, she plays with some bounce, and she possesses good length. A lot of her game on Friday was attacking the basket off the dribble, but she also shot the mid-range jumper reasonably well. I need to see more of her for sure, especially her perimeter skillset and how she handles pressure outside. However, at first glance, I felt like she has a lot of potential to be a really nice small college wing.

Jaelynn was a new name to me altogether on Friday, and I felt like she did a really nice job of contributing in a few different ways. First, she is a solid all-around athlete, but she also possesses really good low body strength. She has some length as well. She wasn't overly aggressive offensively, more so opportunistic, but she was good in rotation defense. She was physical with her matchup, and she did a nice job of boxing out and also pursuing rebounds outside of her area. While she isn't overly flashy, she seemed to be pretty productive.

Nadia had a solid opening game Friday, and she is another forward with nice talent and potential. She is a long, wiry-strong, and somewhat bouncy inside-out player. She looked most comfortable shooting/scoring it near the paint, but she also looked comfortable driving it from the 3-point line or looking to knock down the jumper when left alone. As she spends the next couple of years just tightening up her entire skillset and finding more of a specific niche offensively, look for her to potentially draw some small college interest, because I think she can help someone.

Ellie is not an Indiana prospect, but she stood out in the game I saw. She is constantly working and moving around the floor. She has some length, but she also has some wiry strength, and she isn't afraid to battle inside. However, she also has some touch on her jumper, and she looks to drive it aggressively to the basket from the perimeter. Defensively, her team isn't very tall, so she had to play more of a center role and protect the paint, however, I feel like her fluidity, bounce, and length allow her to play around the perimeter more. She could be a nice small college get.
