Northwood Team Camp: White Cloud Triple-Threat

Northwood Team Camp is an event on my coverage schedule every summer. As a varsity coach and now a Prep Girls Hoops scout, this is my fifth straight year attending camp. Great hospitality and a variety of high school teams from across Michigan keep me coming back. The stars shine, and diamonds in the rough reveal themselves every year. Here are some of the prospects who stood out at camp.    Addison was a breakout performer at Northwood Team Camp. Her accuracy from the perimeter was a separator on the court. Addison found soft spots in the defense, caught passes balanced and ready to shoot, then buried many threes with confidence. She made smooth ball transfers after cutting to the basket, and finished comfortably with either hand. Addison will be a weapon in the White St. Cloud backcourt this season.     Riley had a very productive showing for South Lyon East at the Northwood Team Camp and she's about to step into a major role as a sophomore. Riley drained a smooth wing three and tripled again from the corner. She catches passes balanced and shoots with sound mechanics. Riley looked to score after grabbing a defensive rebound, pushed the ball up the court with pace using both hands, drove to the rim, and forced the defense to put her on the line. She scored a left-handed layup on a crafty drive to the hoop after freezing a defender with a pocket dribble. Riley can facilitate, fill it up from three, and slash to the hoop for high percentage points.     Maci stepped up for Brighton during the OT tournament and was a consistent producer for the Bulldogs throughout the Northwood Team Camp. She applied good ball pressure on the perimeter and moved her feet quickly to keep guards contained. She made smart reads and finished well in the paint off basket cuts. Maci crashed the boards to secure rebounds aggressively on both ends, scanned the floor in transition, and dished out accurate passes effectively as a facilitator. She's a threat from three and drained a triple from the wing. Maci attacked downhill to earn free throws and knocked them down at the line. She converted contested layups in traffic comfortably with her right and left, making good transfers while running full speed in transition. Maci changed hands well to penetrate off the dribble and is on the verge of a breakout sophomore campaign.     Andi was a frequent top performer for [program_tooltip program_id='1831436' first='MBA' last='[program_tooltip program_id='952340' first='The' last='House']'] on the PGH Circuit and that success continued at Northwood Team Camp with White St. Cloud. Andi was a dynamic scorer off the dribble and from the outside. She used shifty pocket dribbles and crossovers to create driving lanes, then blew by with a burst to score many speedy layups with a soft touch at the rim. Andi hit at least five triples in a game, but probably had more. One that made me shaking my head was a filthy triple off a crossover step-back dribble.     Aubri put her full arsenal of talent on display during games for [program_tooltip program_id='1831436' first='MBA' last='[program_tooltip program_id='952340' first='The' last='House']'] on the PGH Circuit and she added an exclamation point at Northwood Team Camp. Aubri finished layups at will with her left and right, harassing opposing ball-handlers with her pesky pressure, and jumping into the passing lanes to create several steals. Once Aubri had the ball in her hands, she immediately raced to the basket for easy fast break buckets. She swiped the ball away at half court, shifted into high gear, drove straight to the rim, and absorbed the contact for a left handed finish. Aubri finished comfortably using both hands, maintained her speed, and scored with excellent touch. She's a sharpshooter from beyond the arc and will be a dynamic guard to watch in the White St. Cloud backcourt again this season.
