Run 4 the Roses Standout Floor Generals

Every team needs someone who can settle the game, create offense, and make winning plays. At Run 4 the Roses, these guards did exactly that. They controlled the pace, broke down defenses, created easy opportunities for teammates, and turned defense into offense on one of the biggest stages in girls basketball. Whether it was making the extra pass, locking up opposing guards, or delivering in key moments, these playmakers left their mark throughout the tournament.    Kearney looked like one of the most explosive point guards in the gym throughout Run 4 the Roses. Her athleticism allowed her to create offense whenever she wanted, but what stood out even more was her willingness to make the right play. Time after time, she broke down defenders before delivering perfectly timed passes that led to easy baskets. Defensively, she completely changed possessions with relentless on-ball pressure, active hands, and several eye-popping blocks from the guard position that energized her team and the crowd.     Fortner put together one of the most complete guard performances of the tournament. While she showed she could score whenever needed, her playmaking stole the spotlight. She constantly attacked the paint, forcing defenses to collapse before firing highlight-reel passes to open teammates. Her ability to throw accurate full-court passes for transition baskets was impressive. On the defensive end, she created havoc with steals, deflections, and nonstop pressure, turning countless defensive plays into easy points and making opposing guards uncomfortable every trip down the floor.     Hodge consistently controlled the offense against quality competition all weekend. She confidently handled defensive pressure, used her tight handle to get into the lane, and repeatedly found open teammates with smart drive-and-kick passes. When defenders backed off, she knocked down perimeter shots, and when they pressed up, she attacked the rim or pulled up off the bounce. Her quick feet and aggressive hands also made life difficult for opposing point guards throughout the event.     Graves once again proved why she's one of the toughest defensive guards around. Throughout the tournament she made opposing ball handlers work for every dribble, applying relentless pressure from baseline to baseline. Offensively, she controlled the pace with confidence, got her team organized, and consistently made the right reads to keep everyone involved. Her steady leadership and defensive intensity were on display every time she stepped on the floor.     Herbst played with confidence well beyond her age during the tournament. She showcased a polished three-level scoring ability while fearlessly attacking the basket against older competition. Just as impressive was her court vision, as she repeatedly anticipated plays before they developed and found open teammates for quality scoring opportunities. Every game she showed why she's considered one of the top young guards in Kentucky.     Jones made one of the biggest offensive statements of the weekend, opening the tournament by knocking down six three-pointers before continuing her hot shooting throughout the event. She consistently created spacing for her team while showing the size and versatility to defend multiple positions, even battling inside when needed. It was easy to see why so many college coaches were asking about her, as she proved she deserves far more recognition than she often receives.     Playing up an age division on the 14U E40 division, Benningfield showed tremendous growth throughout the tournament. Her improved jump shot gave defenders another problem to deal with, while her ball handling allowed her to confidently create offense against older players. Defensively, she competed every possession, making hustle plays and showing maturity well beyond her years.     Stakelin handled every defensive look thrown her way during the tournament with poise. She consistently beat pressure, attacked the rim with confidence, and made smart decisions once she got into the paint. Whether she was finishing herself or finding open teammates, she kept the offense flowing and showed the composure every coach wants from a lead guard.     Evans made her presence felt with her activity throughout the event. She ran the floor hard to create easy scoring opportunities, attacked the basket under control, and made several quality passes that kept her team's offense moving. Her defensive improvement was evident as she competed with much more confidence and physicality than earlier in the AAU season, making an impact on both ends of the floor.
