Babb, Soph Guards Rising Stocks

Check out five sophomore guards in the class of 2029 from around the state of Virginia who have been building a name for themselves with their play recently.    Jha'ziya is the No. 1-ranked player in Virginia for a reason, showing the ability to impact the game in a variety of ways. She's a shifty lefty guard who is difficult to contain in the open court and does a good job getting into the paint before kicking out to open teammates. She's also a good 3-point shooter and has a nice Euro step and floater game when she gets into the paint.     Olivia attacks the paint hard and does a good job drawing contact to get herself to the free-throw line. She isn't bothered by full-court pressure, often needing just one simple move to blow past the defense and get into the open court. She runs her lane well in transition to create easy scoring opportunities and has a nice soft-touch shot from just outside the paint.     Angel excelled during the 3SSB Session III Championship, consistently making winning plays for her team. She hustled hard after loose balls and secured a number of 50/50 possessions, showing a willingness to do the little things. She's quick with the ball in her hands and can blow past defenders, while also doing a good job setting up her teammates in scoring positions. At the rim, she's a strong finisher who elevates over defenders to score.     Sky does a good job using her length when attacking the basket, extending the ball away from her body to make it difficult for defenders to block her shot. She has a tight handle and can string together different combo dribbles to create opportunities. Defensively, she uses her long reach well in the passing lanes to generate steals. She's also a smooth spot-up 3-point shooter and does a good job using her body to bump defenders on her way to the rim.     Brooklyn has several ways to create space for her 3-point shot, including a step-back that gives her room to get the shot off. In the mid-range, she can stop on a dime and elevate into a pull-up jumper with a quick release. She also has a nice floater game around the paint that gives her another way to score. At the recent Run 4 Roses tournament, Brooklyn averaged 20 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals per game.
