. Jha’ziya was not only good in that title game, but she was truly elite in every game Manor played this postseason. Jha’ziya’s quickness gives defenders an immense amount of trouble, and she has great vision. Her handle is elite, and she can knock down jump shots. What I loved this year while watching Jha’ziya is what she does defensively. She has outstanding hands and is an elite POA defender. Her motor is elite, and there are not many guards in the state with a brighter future than hers.

Leaving her mark as a freshman? That is an understatement. Jha’Ziya Babb walked into the state championship and made sure everyone in Virginia knew exactly who she is. She used her elite speed to blow past taller defenders in the open court and in half court sets she attacked the hips with a sharp left-to-right crossover, and was gone before defenders could react. On the defensive end she was equally impressive — getting through screens, applying on-ball pressure, and flicking the ball away from ball handlers to force turnovers. She is the engine behind a 26-1 team and a state championship.

Jha’zhiya Babb was terrific for Manor in a low-scoring and at times sloppy game. This game felt like it was going to be Manor’s speed vs Salem’s size, and Jha’zhiya was a big reason Manor’s speed won out. She was a committed driver early getting to the line a number of times, which kick-started a struggling Manor offense. Jha’zhiya’s passing was outstanding, and when she got out in transition, you saw that she was pretty clearly the fastest player on the court. She knocked down a few threes, and defenders struggled to stay in front of her all game. The Freshman guard finished with 23 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists.
