Louisiana EXPO: Shining Stars

The Prep Girls Hoops Expo had plenty of talent in the gym, but a few players really caught my eye and had me paying attention throughout the event. Whether it was scoring the ball, competing on both ends, making plays for teammates, or just consistently impacting the game, these players found different ways to stand out. Here are some of the Shining Stars from the Expo who made an impact!    [player_tooltip player_id='1896200' first='Jada' last='Roberts'] is a strong frontcourt player who can operate inside-out and plays really well off the pivot. She uses her strength around the basket, stays composed in traffic, and showed she can rebound the ball on both ends of the floor. What also caught my attention was her ability to step away from the paint and knock down the three, giving her some nice versatility as a frontcourt option.     [player_tooltip player_id='1893707' first='Saniah' last='Stokes'] is the type of player that gets your attention with how hard she plays. She is scrappy, competitive, and brings a lot of hustle to the floor on both ends. I appreciate how she plays the game the right way, is fundamentally sound, and consistently finds ways to impact winning. Stoke can also shoot the ball, which adds another element to her game. Just a tough, dependable player that competes every possession.     [player_tooltip player_id='1675633' first='Taia' last='Stennis'] impressed all day long, especially during the 3-on-3 session where she really went to work. She is super strong attacking the basket and showed the ability to finish through contact and convert and-1 opportunities. Her go-to move was the spin dribble, which kept defenders on their heels and helped her consistently get downhill. Stennis was a magnet in the paint, and once she got going toward the rim, very few defenders were able to keep her out. Defensively, she uses her size and strength to disrupt anything coming her way, making her presence felt on both sides of the floor.     [player_tooltip player_id='1792659' first='Aubrielle' last='Theriot'] is considered one of the top players in her class, and I quickly saw why! She is a dynamic two-way player with the skill to go get buckets but also create opportunities for her teammates. Theriot is super athletic with great positional length that allows her to play either guard spot and make an impact on both ends. She has a lot of tools in her game already, and is definitely one of those players that will continue to make waves in the 2029 class.     Molli might be one of the most consistent players in the entire 2028 class. She approaches the game like a seasoned vet and never seems rattled or uncomfortable no matter the situation. I first noticed her last summer, and while the year, day, and time might have changed, MJ still plays with that same confidence and poise. A true PG, Thibodeaux is the type of player a coach can give the keys to and trust that wins and success will follow. She is far from being in cruise control though, playing with toughness and a high IQ that allows her to make plays on both ends of the floor. Molli continues to show exactly why she is one of the true shining stars in the 2028 class.
