Recruitment Update: August 27th, 2026

Here are a few athletes out of Iowa that have recently received interest, been offered or they have recently committed to compete at the next level following their impressive AAU seasons this Summer.   Every player listed has shown off their skill-set over the years with their varsity high school team and that has helped them prove to recruiters that they have what it takes to suit up at the next level following their high school careers. Harlow Griffin picks up an offer from Clarke University of Dubuque to compete following her high school career. Griffin, the 5'11 CG/SF, has been a prospect we have known for a few years now at the Varsity level because of her versatility. She possesses great size and athletic ability - which makes her a tough guard for anyone near and far from the hoop. She also understands the game from an X's and O's perspective and that helps her thrive in meaningful situations. Clarke won an NAIA National Title not too long ago. Their coaching staff brings a wealth of knowledge to the game and that knowledge could definitely help Griffin grow as a hooper throughout the rest of her career, if she were too choose this as her future home at the next level.     There are several coaches reaching out in interest of Rachel Kacmarynski of Pella Christian High School. Kacmarynski is a multiple sport athlete, that seems to stand out on any court or field that she is participating on. She stands right between 5'10 and 5'11 and she pairs skill + athleticism along with that height. Over the last three years this is a player that has put up some impactful numbers as a whole on the hardwood. She returns every season ready to work and she always seems better than the year prior. It's a total guess as to where Kacmarynski is going to end up for college or what sport she will even play. If she wants to compete at the D3 or NAIA level in the basketball world - she should have several options to go that route. She might even bring in some D2 interest if the right staff happens to see her before she ends up committing somewhere this Winter.     Wayne State got a little bit better a few weeks ago when Kaitlin Loria, the SF out of Iowa City, committed there for her foreseeable future. Loria is your prototypical prospect at the Small Forward position. Throughout her high school career she has had to do a little bit of everything as a Forward. She hasn't just been stuck in one spot under the hoop or anything like that. Instead, she has moments where she gets back to the basket post touches, she has moments when she attacks from catching in the midrange, and she has had moments when she screens and attacks from behind the three point line. Defensively she stands out as someone to note if you are going against her team. If you don't, she is going to be able to impact your shot attempts within the lane with her on-ball defense or with her help defense. Wayne State makes some great offers. I have to give them credit where credit is due. They are always on prospects that are impactful at a high level within their careers early on and that usually breeds even more success down the line.     Williamsburg High School is going to have to answer a lot of questions this Winter in the terms of the production department on the offensive side of the ball. Their ace in the hole, who is going to be looked upon to make a boat-load of buckets is Ava Hocker. Hocker has demonstrated that she could hold her own at the college level if she were given a chance. For her position and age she has better than average length and she can get hot from deep in a hurry on the outside from deep. Whenever her team has needed a big three the last few years, it has came from Hocker or their other main starting SG. If it's not those two doing it, it doesn't' work out the best. This is someone that is going to continue to bring in attention from the Midwest as long as she stays uncommitted. She has a bright future in this sport if she sticks with it. That's for sure.     We haven't seen too much of Hayden Scott yet but I anticipate that she could have an impactful Senior season at Pleasant Valley High School. This is going to be one of the biggest and more coordinated players that is still available in this 2027 Class at this time. Scott presents a soft touch on the ball, coordination, good footwork, and she is fairly physical. She isn't the type to shy away from anyone or any challenge that might be put in her way as she restlessly works for the basketball as a scoring threat and as a defensive stopper. Scott plays for a well known AAU program with a lot of connections looking East into Illinois. I'm sure that some of those connections are being put in place so that Scott can make her mark this Winter and then commit to continue onto the next level, if she decides thats what she wants to do.
