and what she brings to the hardwood. Griffin is a 5’11 CG/SF with a lot of versatility for her size and position. She doesn’t really fit in any one spot. She has good size. Better than most but she is coordinated like a guard at times so when she needs to, she can move around and make things happen. Griffin is going to have a chance to be a really solid college prospect at the end of the day. She checks off a lot of boxes evaluators have and she seems to only be getting better as she gets older.

was a Swiss Army Knife for Marion last night. She does most of her work in the paint and did well to finish in a handful of different ways to pace the Red Wolves. She consistently ducked in for dump down passes from teammates, short-rolled when the paint was congested for touch shots in the paint, and flashed a number of different finishes when her back was to the basket. I also loved her toughness on the O boards — when Griffin got a rebound last night, she finished with a soft touch. Harlow was another player who played big minutes and didn’t let it deter her play. She also stepped up with a clutch turnaround jumper to tie it with a dwindling game clock in the fourth.

Griffin is a great example of being a position-less basketball player. PGH lists her as a combo guard and small forward, but she also can operate as a power forward and center. Griffin is strong with a tool box full of skills. If a smaller player tries checking her, she’ll set up on the low block and back in for easy buckets at the rim. Griffin will drag taller players out onto the floor. There, she can face up with a jumper that stretches behind the arc or dribble penetrate with a handle like a guard. In other words, Griffin is a matchup problem. Here diverse skills also allow for defending multiple positions.

. Griffin is 5’11, she moves between the guard and the post spots on the floor, while being a constant contributor in the aspects of rebounding, defending, and offensive efficiency. She moves well enough that she can spread the floor and make it rain from the outside or she can use her size advantage in the middle for easy looks near the bucket. Defensively, you have to know where she is at all times or else it could end up in a tip/block by Griffin. A lot to like for this one coming in at #22 on our list.

this Winter, she was doing all that she could with her Marion team at the CG/SF position to make a difference. Griffin is a seasoned prospect, that happens to be a mismatch problem for most. She is right under 6’0 and she can either take smaller players to the rim for a simple finish or she can step out against bigger defenders and draw them out to attack the middle for another easy look. If they don’t close out, she will not hesitate to let it fly from all over the court. This Winter she was very efficient in her abilities. She checks pff a lot of boxes that college recruiters will have already, she just needs to continue to work on her weaknesses.

I really liked Harlow’s adjustments throughout the game and thought she came up with some big plays for Marion. Griffin has a good feel for the game and positions herself really well on the floor — whether it’s an angle on a ball screen or position in the post, Griffin is fundamental and knows where to be on the floor. Offensively, Griffin stepped up in the second half with a handful of clutch buckets — off of a spin move in the paint, an excellent seal up the lane for a lob over top, and a huge trailer three. She also has excellent timing and swatted a few shots in the paint too.

Griffin attended our PGH event this Fall and showed out as one of the best overall prospects in the gym. Griffin is a player with size, great touch, athletic ability, and knowledge of the game. She understands when to take advantage of her personal matchup, compared to rotating the ball. Not to mention, her thorough scoring ability mixed along with that makes her a tough opponent to stay in front of. This Winter Griffin is going to step up big time. It wouldn’t surprise me if she ended off the season being their leader in most positive statistical categories. She is that impactful and that should be on full display over the next couple of months.

Marion High School has a baller on their hands with CG, Harlow Griffin. Griffin takes the floor right at 5’11 and she is versatile enough to be able to move around the court to a number of different positions. With her natural size and her ability to attack off the dribble or pull up to shoot, she is a handful for anyone to matchup with. That was the case this weekend and I’m hoping that is the case moving into this Winter season. Griffin stood out to all the collegiate coaches that we had in attendance and that speaks to what her future possibilities might hold. She took the floor as a Freshman last season with the Wolves and this time around, she is looking to build on that. Something that is very do-able.

and her Marion High School team compete out of the Cedar Rapids area. The Marion Wolves will have a Varsity roster with a handful of future college prospects on it and they will be looking to make some waves this Winter. In Griffin’s situation, she is going to step onto the floor as one of their top Forwards and she will be looking to build on the foundation that she set in place during her Freshman season. Griffin is coming off of a respectable AAU Campaign with her
Iowa Prep
program and she is going to use that momentum to play her hardest at this Showcase and for her upcoming high school season.
