2026 PGH IA Expo Preview: Last Second Additions To The Roster

Meyer stands right around 6'0 as a Guard and she is continuing to grow. Last season as a Freshman she didn't see a fair shake at IC Liberty High School. She was placed as her team's Center/PF whenever she was put into the game and that's not her position. She is at her best at the CG/SF spots right now and over time she could turn into solely a CG if she keeps working in her off-time. This is a prospect that has size, smart, and athletic ability so basketball isn't the only sport she competes in throughout the year. As she gets older and the vision of her path becomes more clear in her own head - I'm sure she will stick to one sport vs another moving into the college. This weekend in DSM I'm hoping we see some dominating moments out of Meyer She has all the intangibles. Someone that we are going to hear more about as she gets older is SG - Libby Yanda. Yanda is a quick and athletic SG at 5'6. For her age group and Class she has solid size and her skill isn't fair behind. She understands the game and she plays it in a calculated way. As long as she doesn't over think it as she continues to grow - she is going to be someone to note throughout Iowa over the next few years if she plays her cards right. This event is going to be LOADED with talent at most position so I'm excited to see how this younger group fits in with the well-known ballers of the state. Gilson is the type that is at her most comfortable when she is off the ball as a SG. She has always seemed to be with other talented Guards who can bring up the rock so she has always been able to move over in transition but I'm not sure if that will be the case this Winter. Gilson might be moved over to the PG spot, depending on who is around her. They have some decent players coming in along side of her but that doesn't mean that she isn't the best with the rock in her possession. Cleo Jenkins out of Forest City High School is going to have that opportunity. Jenkins will only be the second 2032 invited to this event so it's all about seeing if she can hold her own and who she is going to make fall over. Don't be mistaken - she might be a 2032 but she has been playing up against high schoolers during AAU season for years now on the road. I kind of ask myself, why not? They lose a lot and have some returners that produce but players like <a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/player/kourtney-lake/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Kourtney Lake</a> could step up to help them, even while she is in 8th grade this upcoming Winter. Lake checks off some boxes. Decent size, good hand-eye coordination, solid shooting stroke, fundamental footwork, and she doesn't settle even though she is a mainly a SG. This new 8th grade rule is already throwing a wrench into programs all over the state as they have to decide what they are going to do as they move into the Winter season within the next month and a half.
