Sometimes when you are put into a setting with other talented prospects, your natural ability comes out a little bit more. It’s nature. Aubrey Meyer had this occur during this event. Meyer has natural ability. She stands at 6’0, has coordination, a ton of athletic ability, and she seems to still be growing. Every time we see her, she happens to be taller. At this point in her career, you would call Meyer a CG/SF. She is slowing learning how to handle better while already being someone that can produce at a steady rate against most others because of her natural height/skill mixture. Once she has things click together a little bit more and her confidence comes into play – she is going to be someone that is really tough to contain. We saw glimpses of that at this event and i’m sure we will see it first hand this Winter at Regina as well.

Aubrey Meyer will be joining us from the Iowa City area with a lot of promise as it pertains to her future abilities on the court. Meyer stands right around 6’0 as a Guard and she is continuing to grow. Last season as a Freshman she didn’t see a fair shake at IC Liberty High School. She was placed as her team’s Center/PF whenever she was put into the game and that’s not her position. She is at her best at the CG/SF spots right now and over time she could turn into solely a CG if she keeps working in her off-time. This is a prospect that has size, smart, and athletic ability so basketball isn’t the only sport she competes in throughout the year. As she gets older and the vision of her path becomes more clear in her own head – I’m sure she will stick to one sport vs another moving into the college. This weekend in DSM I’m hoping we see some dominating moments out of Meyer She has all the intangibles. She just needs to understand the situations and attack from there, whether it’s on offense or defense.

Most out of the state of Iowa haven’t seen Aubrey Meyer competing this AAU season because she is playing out of Missouri but trust me, she is doing her thing and making her mark whenever she takes the floor. Meyer’s team has been dominant and she has been nails on both sides of the ball. She is competing like a versatile prospect, doing whatever is asked of her. At times she is competing from the 3 spot and on the outside but if she ever has a mismatch, she isn’t afraid to move to the Post to score with ease over a smaller defender. Defensively, she is staying consistent. She is rebounding when near the hoop and pushing the pace whenever she can down the floor. All in all, we are going to hear a lot about Meyer’s this Winter. She is going to put up some numbers against her competition level and I can’t wait to see that first hand but for now – she will move to the #9 spot in this Update.

Aubrey Meyer Aubrey Meyer 6'0" | SF/CG Regina | 2029 State IA is competing out of state with Missouri Phenom’s 15U EYCL team this Spring and their team is killing it! This group has yet to lose this Spring season, showing everyone watching that they are going to be a team competing for a 15U EYCL National Championship in Chicago at the end of July. Just like Meyer – everyone on her squad has natural skill, a hungry for competition, and they know how to win. Sometimes when you haven’t won a lot, you don’t know what to do when it matters the most and you crumble but not this group. This group has REAL ball players. We have seen some really positive glimpses out of Meyer’s individually during these last few months and we are hoping to see even more of that in Las Vegas this next weekend. She has been playing like a Top 10 player in the state for her Class and that says something with how talented that group really is.

Meyer didn’t really get to play her natural position this Winter as a Freshman at Liberty so many don’t understand her true potential but this is someone that can GO. Meyer comes in a 6’0 with a lot of guard like ability. She moves extremely well for her size in general and she shows up on both sides of the floor whenever she is allowed to be herself and play her game confidently. We have already seen Meyer put successful together weekends on the road with her Missouri Phenom EYCL 15U team and this is only a preview of what she is truly capability of. As long as the off-season works continue, she is surely going to keep on continuing to get better as she moves into her Sophomore season of high school ball.

The journey for Aubrey Meyer Aubrey Meyer 6'0" | SF/CG Regina | 2029 State IA will be interesting over the next 3.5 years. We have a situation where Meyer is playing out of her natural position so that she can see time on the Varsity floor with her Liberty program. Meyer is being moved around as the 5 when in reality she is more of a 3/4. She is seeing a lot of action in the Post, when she could really be used as a threat attacking from the outside as a mismatch at times but you work with the situation you have. Over the years this is another player that we will need to see some progression in her game but the foundation and base are there for her to build on. When she competes against opponents out of her age Class, she usually does a thorough job of holding her own, being one of the best players on the floor and I think that holds up over-time.

Meyer is a good all-around athlete with a chance to be really good in this sport. She flashed that during a contest against rival City High early in the 2025-26 campaign. The only freshman on the court for either team, Meyer did not look the least bit rattled. She played aggressively and confidently, which led to a point, rebound and steal in limited minutes. Every play was important in this contest, and Meyer was a plus for the Lightning. At 5-11 already, the ninth-grader’s potential is noteworthy. She’s skilled with long arms and a keen feel for the game. Meyer definitely is one to watch moving forward this season and beyond.

Meyer is someone that we have talked about for awhile now so I’m glad to see that she is making her mark early on in her career with the Lighting. When the final buzzer sounded Meyer finished with right around 6 Points & 6 Rebounds. This is an avid effort from someone coming into a lineup with mainly upperclassmen producers. Plus with their team only winning by a slim margin, each of these points and rebounds made a difference in securing a win. I think over the rest of the season that Meyer will slowly gain more and more minutes per contest. She possesses a lot of promising ability for her age and position so to build on that with confidence early on is crucial to her development individually and within their lineup.

IC – Liberty is going to be led at the Varsity level with upperclassmen leadership this Winter but someone out of their 2029 Class, who is going to be able to make her presence known over-time is Aubrey Meyer Aubrey Meyer 6'0" | SF/CG Regina | 2029 State IA . Meyer is 5’9’/5’10 at the SF position but I think she will slowly adapt to being more of a CG over her career. This will give her the chance to see the floor more at either spot compared to being solely stuck to the Forward position. Meyer has a nice mixture of coordinated balance, quick feet, a good touch on the ball, while being pretty smart when it comes to the X’s and O’s within the game. She just needs to stay locked in with her eyes on the prize and she will be a name we continue to talk about moving into the rest of her high school career.

Aubrey Meyer Aubrey Meyer 6'0" | SF/CG Regina | 2029 State IA of Missouri Phenom – Iowa’s Hub put together some impressive performances over the past few days on the road, stuffing the stat sheet in every contest she participated in. Meyer, the lengthy and versatile SF, averaged near a double-double (points-rebounds) over her few games moving into the weekend. She even had a 14 point and 15 rebounds game outing to end the first part of Running Of The Roses event in Louisville. Meyer has the chance to makes some waves back home this Winter during high school ball. She has the size and ability, she plays well off of others, she doesn’t need a ton of possession with the ball to produce, and her natural size helps her compete at a few different spots – demonstrating her versatility. If she stays passionate over time, watch out cause she will be someone we hear about for years to come at the Varsity level.
