2029s Leading the Pack: Part 1

With updated Virginia 2029 rankings recently released, it's a great time to take a closer look at some of the sophomores leading the way across the state. These players have continued to separate themselves through their production, development, and impact on both ends of the floor. As their high school careers progress, this group has already given plenty of reasons to keep watching what comes next.    Ison brings noticeable energy to the floor with her enthusiasm and the ability to create a spark after successful plays. She is strong with the ball and can handle it up the floor, attacking gaps and defenders off the dribble, or pulling up from three. She is an effective finisher, using handle to get downhill and showing the strength and control through contact around the basket.     Mills is a confident shooter who stays ready, moving well without the ball and popping out to the perimeter to catch and fire. She relocates to find open space and wastes little time getting into her shot once the ball reaches her hands. She can also create from the midrange, sealing her defender on flashes to the ball before turning into a fadeaway, further showing the versatility of her shooting ability.     Babb is a shifty, aggressive ball-handler who uses a deadly crossover and her ability to split defenders to get where she wants on the floor. She is a strong facilitator with excellent vision, navigating through traffic and finding teammates around the basket with well-placed passes. She is just as capable of creating for herself, attacking gaps without being fazed by defenders and getting all the way to the rim to finish.     Brown plays with infectious energy, getting fired up after big plays and giving her team a spark while bringing an aggressive approach to the offensive end. She has a strong handle and uses quick moves to attack gaps, get around defenders, and initiate contact at the rim, where she can finish with strength or use a spin to create space in the paint. She can also spot up and make herself available for kick-out threes, making her a fun player to watch as she prepares for her first season at Bishop Ireton.     Nina brings size to the floor, showing the versatility to handle the ball, grab a defensive rebound, and push it up the court herself. She communicates in transition to get her team organized and reads the floor well, while also using her pivot foot to escape pressure and find an open teammate when trapped. She is strong on the boards but can also move without the ball, flashing into space and showing a reliable touch on her jumper.
