Fall Rankings Rundown: 2028 Point Guards

It's September, which means it's time for the rankings throughout the site to be updated. About a week ago we released the updated list of 2028 prospects, but I would like to turn my attention to the point guards in this article. Below is a list of those prospects with "point guard" listed as their primary position, followed by some attention for the newcomers, and a look at a couple of ladies who are on the rise.   .    NEWCOMERS:    Kaylee is a really nice, steady, quickly improving point guard prospect. She was solid for Southern Wells as a Freshman, but last season as a Sophomore saw her score 14.0 points, pull down 6.2 rebounds, hand out 4.6 assists, and collect 4.5 steals per game. Additionally, she is improving the consistency of her perimeter shooting, trying to become a multilevel scoring threat. The fact she can score or distribute, plus she's active defensively, could attract a lot of small college interest next Spring and Summer.     Ava isn't the tallest, but she is strong at her size, quick, fast, and somewhat feisty. She was at Monrovia, but she transferred to Cascade over the Summer. She'll give them quite the boost and help them play at a faster tempo. She can get it and go in transition, plus she can operate in the halfcourt offense. I think she's a little underrated as a scorer, but she's a very good passer, and she's a tough-nosed defender. She is a quality small college prospect, and she should be able to help Cascade a great deal.     I was really impressed with Ellington when I saw her throughout the Summer. I felt like she was more of a combo guard as a Freshman, but this Summer she showed the ability to handle and control the basketball, get her team into their offense, plus create offense herself and find openings to slash through. She is extremely quick/fast, and she has a wiry-strong frame. I would expect her to see a much bigger role at DeKalb this Winter, and I think she'll pick up a lot of small college interest next Summer.    .   STOCK-RISERS:    Maddy had an excellent end to the Summer, picking up a great deal of NCAA Division I interest/offers down the stretch run in July and into August. She is a strongly built, broad-shouldered, tough-nosed point guard. She can act as a legitimate game manager, run offense, and find open teammates. She can also put it on the floor, attack the basket North/South, absorb contact, and finish inside. Additionally, she's an excellent perimeter shooter and a feisty defender. She has always been good, but she turned a corner this Summer.     Not only is Za'Nariae on the rise in Indiana, but she also changed positions this go-round. I originally had her listed as a small forward, because that's what her high school listed her as on a couple of sites. After watching her this Summer, she is undoubtedly a point guard. She is extremely strong and physical, and she attacks gaps like a running back try to break through the defensive line. She has good vision, patience, and she doesn't force the action. She'll also get after it at the defensive end of the floor. I expect a big Junior year from her.
