Ellington isn’t very big, but she was solid in her two games on Sunday, and she has done a nice job of working on both her playmaking abilities and her shooting. She is an excellent shooter outside, with good mechanics and touch. But it’s her ball-handling that stood out to me on Sunday. She is doing a nice job of turning the corner on defenders and putting pressure on the entire defense, finding open teammates in traffic. She’s also grittily defending and has figured out ways to create turnovers consistently.

Ellington had the net begging for mercy in a game as she sank a mind-boggling six threes for Indy One 16U McQueen. She also facilitated the ball effectively, reversing the court with strong skip passes, and her instincts on the defensive end resulted in steals. Ellington swished another corner three and a corner jumper off the hop on day two. She was dialed in, and her perimeter accuracy gave the team a major advantage on the court.

The DeKalb team as a whole isn’t very tall, but don’t count them out. Ellington is a talented guard who uses a nice combination of speed, quickness, and the ability to take and make shots from distance to her advantage. When defenders get too tight, she can go right by them, and if they give her too much space, she can fill it up from outside. She has solid ball skill and the physical talent to defend point guards. However, she has been surrounded by other good point guards on most of her teams, so she’ll often settle in on the wing. It would be nice to see her play the point exclusively for a weekend.

Solid perimeter game, utilizes quickness to get open to be able to shoot from behind the arc. Makes good decisions and actually gets rid of the ball quickly on her shot. Can get downhill to the rim. Plays the position well on both ends of the court.
