Film Study: Returning Western Valley Warriors

Paterson took the floor and showed up as her team's leader in almost every positive statistical category while they went 14-7 over all throughout the Winter. Paterson led the group coming down the floor, making smart plays on both ends. Offensively, she created, assisted, and scored around everyone at a super high rate. Defensively she was someone that no one wanted to deal with once they passed over half court because it was constant pressure that would turn into steals for the defense. This might be POTY within the Conference when this season comes to a close. Kolar moves and control the middle of the paint on her squad. She is a 5'10 Forward, that produces with most of her numbers by the basket but she isn't afraid to stretch the floor and shoot the three ball if the defense wants to be lazy. Kolar led the conference last Winter in total Rebounds and I think that was just the tip of the iceberg of what we might be able to see for this final year of high school ball. She did have 288 Rebounds and 299 Points as a Junior, which just speaks to what she can bring to the floor if she has put some work in this off-season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:acf/evaluation-block {"name":"acf/evaluation-block","data":{"player_evaluations_0_player":["1312153"],"_player_evaluations_0_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations":1,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-6abc5f08e1df1"} --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">The type of game that [player_tooltip player_id='1312153' first='Carlee' last='Johnston'] competes with is noteworthy to anyone who is evaluating, who used to compete in this sport as a Guard because she does the little things correctly, she is a fundamental player on both sides of the ball who relies on her skill and not just being athletic, and she understands the game at a really high rate for the Class level comparatively. Westwood was a tough matchup for most last season because of their domination out of the Post but that will be gone this Winter so it's going to be up to players like Johnston to step back in and lead the charge by example. Something that shouldn't be anything new for the veteran PG at this point in her career life Johnston. We mentioned Paterson above and for good reason but McNamara has been in the program for three years and each year she has gotten better within her individual skill on the game. Last season as a Junior she was 4th in the conference in scoring (325), 2nd in assists (77), 3rd in steals (76), and 3rd in FG made. Nelson, the 5'9 CG, is listed as a SF by her team but she competes more of that 3/4 option. She can play the starting 4 and do well but she likes to spread things out to make the defense keep guessing. Out of her over 200 offensive attempts as a Junior, 60 of them were from distance off the catch and sometimes even the bounce. Other than that Nelson was a steady rebounding force on her team. She ended the year as their top rebounder and that's no surprise because she is willing to mix it up physically at any moment, which just speaks to the attitude she brings to the game whenever she competes.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
