The Florida Expo: Team 5 Evaluations

Team 5 brought a well-rounded mix of ball-handling, outside shooting, and scoring in transition. Several players could initiate the offense or find an open teammate, while the shooters shot it from all over the court. The team also had a strong presence inside, with physical finishes, rebounding, and shot-blocking. Its ability to block shots, rebound on the inside, and initiate the break made the group dangerous from the moment they gained possession of the ball.   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepgirlshoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/4/2026/09/DSC04576-2.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-1930807" /></figure>        Poole has good handles, keeps her head up, delivers passes to players, and can also get in the lane and shoot the short midrange shot. Poole was also disruptive on the defensive end with her quick hands and feet and her ability to move. Poole was calm and collected running the point and is the type of player you want to have the ball in her hands when the game is on the line.     [player_tooltip player_id='1895024' first='Olivia' last='Shook'] showed her outside shooting ability with a smooth jumper and a made three-pointer. She stayed active within the offense, cutting to the basket and finding ways to get involved away from the ball. She also handled the ball well, showing she can contribute on the court beyond her shooting on the perimeter.     [player_tooltip player_id='248374' first='Catalina' last='LaFreniere'] stood out with her elite point-guard and ball-handling skills. LaFreniere displayed hustle, court vision, scoring, and elite passing. The young guard also ran the floor well and finished in transition. Her smoothness with the ball made a strong impression throughout the Expo.     Rembert ran the floor well and scored consistently on layups in transition. She also went inside, absorbed physical contact, and finished. Rembert was very good at getting inside the paint and scoring on short jumpers and floaters. She was also a beast on the offensive glass. On one possession, she stayed with her shot through multiple rebounds before finally scoring. Rembert was also a standout on the defensive end with several steals and blocked shots.     Gonzalez Rey showed good speed and versatility. She showed an ability to bring the ball up the court and initiate offense, and also showed the versatility to play on the wing. Rey showed good court vision and did a good job of putting the defense at a disadvantage by advancing the ball of the court. She can handle the ball and showed the versatility to play several positions in the backcourt.     Haynes played in the flow of the offense, made good decisions, and did not force plays. The Middleburg shooting guard showed confidence and range as a shooter, making several threes, including one from the top of the key off a screen and another from near half-court. She also hustled for rebounds from the guard position. Haynes showed calmness and poise on the floor and a high basketball IQ, great anticipation, and an awareness of setting up for shots at the right time.     Luster showed she could shoot from outside, including a nice three-pointer in the second half. On another play, she stole the ball, led the fast break, and advanced it to a cutting teammate for a transition layup. Luster is a versatile guard who has good size and has the ability to play multiple guard positions in the backcourt.     Barnett showed quickness and physicality from the guard position. She used her body well to keep the opponent from getting inside. Barnett showed she could shoot from the perimeter. She handled the ball up top without turning it over. She has the quickness, athleticism, and ball skills to put more pressure on a defense. Driving more often could create even more plays for herself and her teammates.     Weaver handled the ball well for a player of her size, contributed on the glass, and made great outlet passes. Her ability to rebound and push the ball put the defense at a disadvantage, even when she did not finish the break. She was particularly impressive defensively, blocking several shots on the perimeter, in the paint, and affecting other shots throughout the event. Weaver also set good screens up top and made the right rolls to the basket, though the pass did not always come. Weaver showed offensive versatility, connecting on a three from the top and also operating in the paint.
