PGH Carolinas EXPO: Players Who Showed Up and Showed Out

One week has passed since the PGH Freshman Showcase and now it was the turn of classes 2027, 2028, and 2029 in Rock Hill. Let's take a look at the players who showed up on Sunday and showed out between the lines. From start to finish of the event these players get the nod for competing hard, playing unselfishly, and showcasing their skills in a variety of ways. All of these players had plenty of highlights but their high motors and consistency set them apart over the four hours of competition.    Isabella played with a speed on Sunday that separated her from the rest of the competition. Equally talented finishing with her right and left hands, the 5'7" guard showed her ability score at all three levels in multiple games throughout our contest. Her Euro step was deadly going both directions, and she was often seen knifing through the lane and contact on her way to an easy points.     One of the better ball handlers in attendance on Sunday, Bella did a great job of not only scoring at all three levels, but using her handle and passing to set up teammates all over the floor. She has excellent vision on offense, and anticipation on defense. When handling the ball she seldom wastes dribbles and was witnessed going coast to coast in 3-4 dribbles for quick transition layups. Her activity and energy from start to finish on the day made her a factor in every contest.     This 5'10 unranked player won't stay that way for long. As her confidence grows and her outside shooting continue to improve, look for her to become a dominant player on both ends of the floor. Here at the showcase Avery showed that she is not afraid of contact as she drove the lane, grabbed tough boards in traffic, or scored seemingly at will at times. Avery has great length and athleticism, and was the most active player on the floor in multiple contests Sunday. Whenever she matched up with another high level player she accepted the challenge and made it hard for them to be productive.     It was clear to see from the onset why Amani is one of the top prospects in the NC 2029 class. The do it all guard scored at all 3 levels while making it look easy on Sunday. She has deep range and a confident stroke making her arguably the toughest match up in attendance. When she wasn't shooting, Amani was using her impressive first step to get into gaps. Making the proper reads on her way to scoring or setting up teammates made it seem like she was playing the game in slow motion. That confidence and poise will serve her well as she continues to develop.     One of the best passing PG's in the gym on Sunday, Cadance certainly made a name for herself. Her speed and passing are weapons. When the defense over helped she found her teammates with the correct type of pass, and an extremely high level of accuracy. Cadance did a great job throughout the event of establishing her post players early through her passing, and then punishing opposing teams defenses with inside out action. She covers side line to side line very well defensively, and was able to turn those steals into fast break layups for her teammates or open corner threes with her passing ability.     Another unranked prospect to make this list is Lanie Dameron from McDowell High School and Team Hickory AAU. Standing at 6'0, the lanky wing player flexed her versatility here at the EXPO. From playing inside and posting smaller matchups, to stretching the floor with her outside shooting, Lanie is a highly underrated utility knife of a player. Her length allows her to guard bigger players and contest shots with great efficiency. Throw in her unselfish nature as a pass first player and the future for Lanie is bright. In each contest Sunday Lanie scored from the outside, defended well, and had multiple assist. Look for her to have a great close to her high school season.
