PGH Sophomore ID Camp: Team 8 evaluations, part 2

Intern Paxyn Rendahl has been with Prep Girls Hoops all summer contributing her basketball knowledge and scouting ability at tournaments throughout the AAU season. She is part of our evaluation team for all of the PGH Minnesota showcases this fall including the Sophomore ID Camp on Sunday.    A former college player from St. Scholastica who played high school ball at Pine Island, Paxyn has an excellent understanding of the game and what it takes to get seen and be recruited. She wrote the evaluations for Team 3 and Team 8. Here is Team 8, part 2.    Finding a guard to trust during close scoring games – one who can make the right decision – isn't easy, but Austin (pictured above) is exactly that. Her vision and ability to see the full court as a point guard is remarkable. The Minnetonka sophomore can read the defensive momentum and make a play out of it with a snap of a finger. She's quick and smart with her passes, and what makes her stand out is her way of communicating to her teammates where to go next. This type of talkative floor leader is what blends the team together and helps close out the win at the end. A top-5 ranked prospect in the class of 2029, Izze is the epitome of what it takes to be a point guard during high-pressure situations.     Behnke is a player who has great court awareness and knows what her team needs at any given time. Standing at 6'0, this strong, powerful athlete is a versatile player who can play in the lane and make a move at the rim, or stay out on the perimeter and use her speedy footwork to go against the guards on the drive. Constantly finding the small ways to help her team, Lyla is the definition of a glue player. She rebounds the ball consistently, and can get smooth pull-up jumpers going on offense. The strong fundamental skillset that Behnke has is fun to watch, especially during close scoring games, where she often takes on a leadership role. Defensively Lyla is elite.     Standing at 5'9, this lengthy guard competes with speed as her biggest advantage. Leimer's quick drives to the basket are impressive, along with her knack for rebounding the ball and putting it up again in quick succession. Defensively, the St. James sophomore brings a different intensity, staying active in the paint to block shots, rebound the ball, and push it up the floor in transition. Adyson's speed lights a fire under her and brings out an aggressive side that helps her get the ball back in her team's possession. By using her quickness to her advantage, Leimer shows skilled footwork, timing in the lane, and plenty of grit as a player.     Good sportsmanship is something that has a greater impact than it may seem, and is crucial to have in the game of basketball. Hammer is not just an explosive, quick and skilled guard, but her sportsmanship shone through at the Sophomore ID Camp. No matter the team she plays with, the 5'7 guard is constantly lifting up her teammates, bringing the energy, and can also be that finishing piece of positivity her team needs. Violet plays with a passion for the game, but especially for the people she's playing with. This unselfish outside shooter creates an impact with assists, her speedy footwork on defense, and being a positive force both on and off the floor.
