+4 Time and time again, both in the high school season and on the AAU circuit, Behnke has proven her abilities as a highly effective two-way performer. The 6-foot forward plays physical, works hard, and is consistently committed to locking her opponents down on the defensive end. The Spring Lake Park standout was also one of the state’s top rebounders over the winter, corralling over 250 boards as a freshman. Lyla’s constant effort, willingness to get her hands dirty, and attention to the details of the game are what make her great. Not to mention, her abilities as a multi-level scorer. Behnke climbs four more places into the top 40.

If someone was teaching a clinic on the fundamentals of post defense we might make a simple suggestion: Just show film of Behnke’s performance when we watched at Summer Jam. The 6-foot Spring Lake Park forward, who plays on a strong Fury S40 squad, put on a masterclass in defensive positioning, boxing out, and physical play. Every possession looked the same: locate a body, establish position, and finish the play with the rebound or blocked shot. There was nothing flashy or demonstrative about it. Just relentless, technically sound basketball. Lyla’s combination of strength, toughness, and in-game IQ makes her an elite rebounder, as evidenced by the more than 250 boards she collected as a high school freshman. Offensively, Behnke remains highly efficient around the basket, but it was her defensive discipline and physical presence that carried the day.

+5 In putting together this 2029 rankings update my mind wandered back to a Breakdown Fall League game prior to the 2025-26 high school season. Lyla was completely dominant that day, well beyond what you’d expect from an incoming 9th grader. Here we are nearly six months later and Behnke is coming off a season in which she dominated the boards and grew her game in every aspect. Upping her production by half, she averaged 9 points and 9 rebounds per game, topping 250 boards for the season. Behnke was 2nd in steals and blocks, 4th in assists. The 6-footer has the build for college basketball and the drive to be great. She earned a 5-place bump to #43.

Behnke, a 6-foot forward, has the build, poise, and polish to be a strong performer at the next level. She averaged 6.7 points and 6 rebounds last season and continues to grow into a reliable two-way contributor. Smart and fundamentally sound, Behnke boxes out on every possession, runs the floor hard, and finishes efficiently inside. Behnke’s improved three-point shooting adds range to her game, and her motor never seems to stop. A strong rebounder and steady defender, she’s a coach’s dream – dependable, tough, and detail-oriented. Expect her impact to expand significantly for Spring Lake Park this winter.
