Saturday afternoon marked the annual Prep Girls Hoops Indiana Sophomore ID Camp. For me, it was a great way to see many of the state's 2029s in one location, especially with them having traveled all over the Midwest/country during the Grassroots season. Below is a deeper look at a few young ladies who I felt stood out in their time I was able to see them. There were several good performances, but I wanted to narrow my list for this article to make it a little more exclusive.

.

Gabby was very good Saturday evening, much better than when I saw her during a stretch in July. She was more confident, more aggressive to the basket, and at times it looked like the offense was set up to run through her. She didn't really force anything either. She just used her length, her gliding athleticism, and her quickness to get by defenders and slash to the rim effortlessly. Add to that the fact she has a nice lefty shot from the perimeter, and she's a multilevel scoring threat. I do think she defends with effort, but with just a little more urgency, she could be an elite on-ball defender.

Azaria is another 2029 prospect who has really stood out to me over the past three months. She is extremely long, quick, fast, and explosive. She handles the ball like a yo-yo and gets defenders so badly off-balance they can't recover. She can finish around the basket with a variety of scoop shots, runners, and floaters, but she also knows when to give it up to open teammates. Add to that the fact she can shoot it outside as well, and she's hard to guard. At the defensive end of the floor, she utilizes her quickness and length very well, and she can absolutely harass opposing ball-handlers.

After seeing Avery in early July, she was already going to be on the rise when the updated 2029 rankings release later this month. But after Saturday, she simply confirmed that would be the case. She is a very nice athlete, she has good strength, plus she's skilled. She can shoot the 3-pointer when set and in rhythm, she has a nice mid-range game and can even hit a pull-up off the bounce, plus she finishes through contact at the rim. She's a relentless rebounder, a versatile, hard-working defender, and as her handle continues to improve, I think she'll become a wing long-term.

It's hard to go into a game, an event, a weekend, whatever, and not notice Ari's game. She is such a natural, pure scorer, and she can fill it up in a variety of ways. She is long, smooth, and explosive, she can create space with the dribble or turn the corner on most defenders, plus she has range well-beyond the 3-point line. I'm not a fan or people labeling her a volume shooter, though. She does take a lot of shots, but she shot 46% from the field and 38% from 3-point range last year, and anyone averaging 27.3 points per game will take shots. She's also an excellent defender.

Lillia had a hand in Center Grove's 2026 Class 4A State Championship, averaging 6.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game. After watching her Saturday, and throughout the grassroots season, look for her to be much more heavily involved in what the Trojans do this Winter. She is extremely long, fluidly athletic, smooth, and versatile. She can act as a traditional point guard, initiate the offense, and operate within a system, or she can break down opposing defenders and collapse a defense. She's also a nice perimeter shooter and uses her length well defensively.

Journey figured out a way to carve out a role among a strong group of 2027s at Franklin Central last year. She was then asked to handle the ball some and initiate the offense like a point forward. She is a talented athlete, she has really nice length, and her skillset continues to improve. Saturday, she stood out because she played with so much poise and control. She attacked off the dribble and finished through contact, she showed a nice mid-range game, plus she did a good job of defending with discipline. As long as they can stay healthy, FCHS should be a top team in 2026-2027.
