PGH Wisconsin Freshman Showcase Team 3 Evaluations: Part One

Another PGH Wisconsin Freshman Showcase is in the books. About 90 players made the trip to the Champions Center, and plenty of notable players stood out. We will look at the 5v5 teams and discuss what each player brought to the table when I saw them play. I'll highlight a few players later because of number changes and to make sure I know who I noted. That said, let's look at some of the players from Team Three who impressed last weekend.    The Brookfield native did the little things well and could become a contributor at East in the next few years. Veldhouse is a solid athlete and made plays in transition in the 5v5 game I saw. I also think she can force the issue with the ball in her hands, and although she seemed comfortable playing off the ball, her ability to get downhill adds another layer to her game.     I thought the future Edgewood Crusader is willing to slot into a role and find ways to thrive within it. She's comfortable playing without the ball and can space the floor as a perimeter shooter. I think she has the skill set to elevate the players around her and make their lives easier. She also has the potential to develop her game on the defensive end of teh floor because she has the physical tools to influence a game.     The Muskego native is an athletic kid with a strong frame heading into her first season of high school basketball. She has the physical tools to play against players a few years older than her and more than hold her own. I liked her motor and thought that she made some extra-effort plays that will add up over the course of the season. In the moments I saw her play, you could tell she didn't seem satisfied with her offensive performance, but she took good shots and got to her spots. Personally, I didn't read too much into her makes or misses.     The incoming Papermaker is the latest in a long line of talented kids who've come through the Kimberly youth program. Fulcer has the tools to help one of the top programs around this winter. She's a physical wing and brings some versatility to the floor. She is a willing passer and will make the right play with the ball in her hands. She reads the game well and won't get sped up much playing varsity if she earns a role with a talented Kimberly group.     The Madison native impressed me with her ability to handle the ball and create off the bounce. [player_tooltip player_id='1231936' first='Collins' last=''] can get to her spots and manipulate defenses with the ball. I think there's more to her game that she can unlock over the next few years, and she's already skilled enough to break down defenders if they aren't as focused as they need to be.
