PGH Wisconsin Freshman Showcase Team 6 Evaluations: Part Two

Another PGH Wisconsin Freshman Showcase is in the books. About 90 players made the trip to the Champions Center, and plenty of notable players stood out. We will look at the 5v5 teams and discuss what each player brought to the table when I saw them play. I'll highlight a few players later because of number changes and to make sure I know who I noted. That said, let's look at some of the players from Team Six who impressed in Appleton.    I saw Swanlund play in late June for the first time, and was impressed by how calm she was with the ball in her hands. Since then, I've seen her play a handful of times, and I've been impressed each time. The Winneconne native is a skilled lead guard who can protect the ball under pressure and create space from her initial defender. I also like her ability to create for her teammates, find ways to score around the rim, and create space around larger defenders.     The Sturgeon Bay native is a physical, undersized forward who competes on both ends. Her ability to battle around the basket can help her team win on the margins, and she will make winning plays that don't show up on box scores. Freimuth may not always score in double figures, but she will add value anytime she's on the floor. I like her competitiveness and the edge she brings to the court.     The Sun Prairie native is a confident player who can handle it off the dribble and beat her initial defender off the bounce. Winzer has no fear as a lead guard and will put pressure on any defense she lines up against. She has the talent to take over games as a scorer, and she can put the ball in the basket from anywhere on the floor. Winzer has shown flashes of being an impressive guard prospect and will be a player to watch over the next four years.     The Boyceville native is a talented scorer who can put points on the board with volume. Jeske is a talented perimeter shooter who can space the floor and moves well off the ball. Jeske isn't the most physically imposing player, but doesn't need to play as a lead guard to be at her best. She also has the confidence to let her shot fly whenever she has space, and she can help spark offensive runs for her team.
