Just in time for Halloween, the inaugural 2030 watchlist just posted on Prep Girls Hoops Indiana. Typically, I like to have this completed sometime in mid to late June, and at the latest, sometime immediately after our PGH Freshman Showcase in September. But this year, I found it very difficult to put together as comprehensive and thorough of a list as I feel we've released today. Why? Well, when I looked through this class during the Spring and Summer, and I sat back this Fall and considered what I saw, it is talented and deep both, but there is a divide...at least for now. I always wanted to initially get 40 to 50 names out there, and 50 is what we landed on, but that in itself was a project. In my honest opinion, I felt like there were a dozen, maybe 15 "easy' selections based on their play, potential, and recruitment, so the class is strong at the top. In many years, there can be a major dropoff from player #5 to player #15. In this case, I didn't so much feel that way, as there are about 75 girls who were "competing" to fill about 35 to 38 spots within the watchlist. That "dropoff" I mentioned is much farther down the list. That's what made this so difficult. Did I miss someone? Oh, I'm sure I did. But we will continue to monitor the class as they start their high school careers next week and reissue an updated watchlist sometime shortly after Christmas Break. At that time, we will also expand and attempt to make the list even more valid, addressing those we might have omitted. In the meantime, please give the ladies who did make it the credit they deserve for all of their hard work.

Like her sister on the 2030 point guard list, Kinsley is the real deal as well. She is tough, strong, and athletic, plus she's able to attack the basket and absorb contact while finishing. Additionally, Kinsley can shoot it from outside, plus she is an effective offensive rebounder. I think her strength and versatility will help her be a multidimensional player in high school, but by the Spring and Summer months, look for her to transition more into that of a combo guard. Kinsley battled an injury and wasn't seen throughout the grassroots season.

Katelyn was really good at our PGH Indiana Freshman Showcase back in September. She has tremendous length at her height, she's quick and shifty, and she has a scorer's mentality. While she likes to get going early in games, she can always find her rhythm with her dribble. She likes to create with the ball in her hands, but she also has it on a string and can get defenders off-balance so she can go by and finish around the basket. She could play a role early for the talented, but young, Lawrence Central Bears this Winter.

I saw Bo a handful of times throughout July, and she is definitely intriguing. She is extremely long and wiry, fairly fluid and smooth, but she just competes and wants to win so badly. She can handle the ball, create for herself or teammates, and knock down open rhythm jumpers. She'll need to continue learning good shot selection and eliminating Freshman mistakes, but she's a very talented option for an ECA team already primed with a strong backcourt. Look for her to make waves and maybe lead them in scoring.

Berkley is a talented athlete who I just became familiar with earlier today. She is the younger sister to Hadlee Caffee (2028) in Decatur, Indiana. Hadlee is a 5-11 to 6-foot power forward, while Berkley is more of a combo guard who does a little of everything with the ball. She can handle, create, and initiate the offense, plus she's a capable perimeter shooter when set and in rhythm. Bellmont is already returning everyone from their Class 3A State Championship team, so I'm curious to see what type of role Berkley can carve out.
