Big Cat Fall League: Impact Players

Milford High School hosted the Big Cat Fall League on Sunday, and I stopped by to catch the first group of games. Here are five players who made a visible impact for their teams throughout the day:

Majdaleen has good versatility and toughness, which combine with her high motor to make a comprehensive impact on the court. She finished in traffic, stepped outside to sink a three up top, and ripped the ball hard on a drive to get to the rim. Majdaleen impacted games with her defensive effort and persistent rebounding. She worked hard to stop dribble penetration, denied passes in the half-court and in transition, created steals, and won battles for rebounds. She had a solid day at the Big Cat Fall League for [program_tooltip program_id='932068' first='Michigan' last='Prospects'] and will be an important contributor for Carlson this winter.

Brooklyn sent not one, but two shots away with ferocity in the paint. She corralled many rebounds on both ends of the court and went up strong to score multiple putbacks. Brooklyn has good length and athleticism. She faced up and attacked with her dribble, split gaps, ran the floor well, was impactful in screen-and-roll actions, looked to make the extra pass, and got defenders to bite on her shot fakes. Brooklyn fooled a defender with her shot fake, made a smooth transfer, and finished off two feet. She kept her eyes up, forced a help defender to commit to her dribble, then dished out an unselfish pass to an open teammate for the assist. Brooklyn knocked down a free throw with confidence and turned in an impressive, complete performance for Wixom St. Catherine at the Big Cat Fall League.

Danica had height, size, and fundamental skills that made her stand out as a forward prospect for the [program_tooltip program_id='932068' first='Michigan' last='Prospects']. Her confidence as a shooter caught my attention at the Big Cat Fall League. She knocked down a short corner jumper, then gave the offense a spark with her accuracy from beyond the arc. Danica buried a corner three and added a smooth, catch-and-shoot triple from the wing. She provides a rebounding presence, holds her ground in the post, and is an impactful inside-outside forward in the lineup.

Maci brings unlimited energy and competitiveness every time she steps onto the court. She was an aggressive rebounder and defender at the Big Cat Fall League. Maci drilled a long corner jumper, drove hard to the basket, and refused to quit on a play. She has good hands and made smooth transfers to score layups with a soft touch. Maci battled to gain the inside advantage, secured offensive rebounds, and forced the defense to send her to the line. Maci knocks down free throws and looks ready to have a breakout sophomore season for the Bulldogs.

Madelyn is a scrappy point guard who played a key role for Wixom St. Catherine at the Big Cat Fall League. She's feisty on the defensive end, handles the ball well with both hands, and was effective as a facilitator. Madelyn met the ball in the air and ran through the pass to cause a foul. She drained a pull-up jumper, showed her toughness by driving hard to the basket to draw fouls, pushed the tempo in transition after grabbing defensive rebounds, and hustled to chase down loose balls. Madelyn has the potential to be a productive member of the backcourt as a freshman.
