CGHR Da Future Showcase: Top Performers

October having arrived means we are in the final month sans high school basketball. At this point in the calendar year, it is particularly important to ensure that one is performing at their peak.    Showcase events such as Carolina Girls Hoops Report's Da Future Showcase can certainly help in that process. Mooresville – specifically the Talbert Recreation Center near Lake Norman – was the site for this past Friday's festivities.    We at Prep Girls Hoops decided to make the trek to the Charlotte area for the day's festivities. Amongst a slew of standout performances, here are nine that particularly caught our attention.     Robinson is very familiar with Da Future Showcases. She has established herself as one of the premier 2031s throughout North Carolina and playing for one of the state's premier travel teams in [program_tooltip program_id='714762' first='Charlotte' last='Dream Elite'] will earn her plenty of attention from many a coach. At 5-foot-11, a team can place her in a lineup as either a guard or a forward. When she is playing as a guard, she already has an advantage over her competition because of her height and blends it together with the ability to attack the rim and finish with emphasis at the cup. She plays at Hickory Ridge MS and is poised to be a worthwhile addition to 7A Hickory Ridge – one of the more revered programs in North Carolina when her high school career commences. Ortiz-Gonzalez will soon begin her junior season with a Winston-Salem Christian team that put together a solid 25-8 campaign throughout 2025-26. She was one of the best playmakers of the day's gathering and another who is no stranger to Da Future Showcases. Her athleticism and ability to attack the rim are merely two elements to her game that has earned her a robust profile. Ortiz-Gonzalez's travel career has included a stint with Carolina Elite and FBC Queen City as well as most recently with [program_tooltip program_id='713566' first='Lady' last='Phoenix'] 16U. She averaged 7.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 1.4 assists per game last season. Cunningham was another of the more difficult guards to contain throughout Friday evening in Mooresville. She is another that can be placed in a team's lineup as either a two or at the point, but she found more success with attacking the rim on Friday. Cunningham is one of the better rebounders in the backcourt that there is and her solid defense makes her a consistent playmaking possibility on both ends of the floor. Hillside was reclassified from 4A into 7A beginning with last season and that move – along with the emergence of Cunningham worked wonders for the Hornets. Hillside improved its win total to 11 last season after Cunningham averaged 16.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 4.1 steals and an assist per game as she would compete in all 22 of the Hornets' matchups. It is one thing to have the height of a big considering Robinson does stand at a noteworthy 6-foot-2. Does one have the talent to go along with that height advantage? The answer to that question is a resounding "yes" in the case of Robinson. She works for everything she gets and understands that playing in the interior means dealing with a great deal of contact that can place her at the free throw line. Even though High Point Christian Academy encountered plenty of hard luck throughout 2025-26, Robinson was a bright spot. Robinson competed in 13 games last season and averaged 11.6 points, a team-leading 8.8 rebounds and a team-leading 1.3 blocks per game. The Yellow Jackets of 4A Greer have experienced a great deal of struggles over the past several seasons – including a three-win campaign in 2025-26. Perhaps the emergence of an up-and-coming eighth grader who has experience playing on the Nike circuit will be the start of a turnaround at Greer. Russell is particularly talented as a 3-point shooter but also can get into attack mode and is willing to distribute as well as scorer. She ran with Her Elite this past spring and summer and has previous experience with Legacy Early College. Back in April, Russell secured an offer from LeMoyne-Owen College in Tennessee. Mogbo has previous experience at Grace Christian and currently wears the colors of 7A Holly Springs. She is also well-known in West Virginia hoops circles considering she has played for WV Thunder 16U. One can detect through her play why she has drawn collegiate interest from schools such as North Carolina A&T, Elon, UNC-Greensboro and East Tennessee State. Mogbo is also a multi-sport athlete who has played flag football at Holly Springs in addition to her growing list of basketball achievements. Mogbo led her Golden Hawks to one of the most noteworthy turnarounds in North Carolina high school basketball season as Holly Springs improved from nine victories two seasons ago to a 23-2 record in 2025-26. She played in all 25 games last season averaging 15.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.6 steals and 2.3 assists per contest. Jackson provided one of the noteworthy transfers of the offseason. Following last season at 8A East Meck, Jackson has brought her many basketball talents to another 8A school. That would be Mallard Creek – the defending 8A state champions. Jackson has also worn the Carolina Stars uniform throughout the spring and summer months of AAU. The 5-foot-4 guard was one of three from the class of 2028 that was on last season's Eagles team. Among the many positive elements to her game that Jackson places emphasis on are ball handling, defense, attacking the rim and connecting on midrange jump shots. Jackson is another who is also familiar to Da Future Showcases. Glenn is an emerging 2030 that is poised to put together a solid freshman season at 4A Fountain Inn. Following the conclusion of the 2026 travel season, Glenn secured her first collegiate offer – an in-state get courtesy of Lander. Finishing with her left hand is among the many intriguing attributes to her game as well as her emphasis on defense. That also includes her ability to consistently locate attacking lanes that lead to emphatic finishes at the basket. The FBC Youngunz product thrives as a combo guard. Glenn also has previous experience wearing the Lady Carolina Premier uniform for her grassroots career. Rodgers has competed at the high school varsity level since she was a middle schooler and is advancing into her sophomore season with a Blacksburg team that is moving from 2A to 1A Division 2 beginning this upcoming season. She competed in 22 contests last season for a Wildcats team that finished as a 2A Upper State semifinalist and averaged 11.7 points, 2.8 steals, 2.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists. Solid defense, attacking the basket, connecting on mid-range and long-range jumpers and making plays in transition are among the many positive qualities to Rodgers' skillset. She was one of four from the class of 2029 on last season's Blacksburg team.
