Michigan high school girls basketball is just over a month away from getting underway, which means it's time to start looking ahead to the 2026-27 season. Over the next several weeks, I'll be rolling out plenty of preseason coverage, including division previews, conference previews, team previews and players to watch throughout the state. I've also started reaching out to varsity coaches about team previews when I have their contact information. If you're a varsity coach and would like to have your team featured in a season preview, please feel free to reach out to me at danyle.bowers@gmail.com. I'm excited to get the high school coverage started and begin taking a closer look at what's ahead this winter.

The 2026-27 high school basketball season is getting closer, and Division 3 has plenty of talent returning across Michigan. The division graduated some very talented players from last season, including Averie Zinn, Angela Meggison and Natalia Laskowski, leaving opportunities for another group to step into the spotlight this winter. From proven All-State players to athletes who played major roles in successful seasons a year ago, there are plenty of familiar names ready to make an impact again. Several of these players have already established themselves among the best in the division, while others have an opportunity to take another step forward this season. There was too much returning talent to fit into one article, so I'm breaking this group into two parts. Here's Part 2 of my look at some of the top returning players in Division 3 heading into the 2026-27 season.

Mylah returns for her senior season at Saugatuck after earning First Team All-State honors as a junior and helping lead her team to an impressive 23-2 record. The talented guard made an impact on both ends of the floor, averaging 17.7 points per game while shooting 43.1 percent from the field and adding 3.0 assists per game. Mylah was also a top-notch defender, giving Saugatuck a player who could make a difference on both ends each time she stepped on the floor. Her play helped the team capture both conference and district championships during an outstanding season. With her ability to score, create for teammates and make an impact defensively, Mylah brings a well-rounded game into her final high school season. After everything Saugatuck accomplished a year ago, she will be a major piece as the team looks to put together another successful season, and she enters the winter as one of the top returning seniors in Division 3.

Elliana returns for her senior season at Kalamazoo Christian after earning Second Team All-State honors as a junior and reaching a pair of impressive career milestones. She has already surpassed 1,000 career points and 500 career rebounds after averaging 17.8 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2.3 assists per game last season. Her production shows the different ways she can impact a game, from scoring and rebounding to creating opportunities for teammates and making plays defensively. Elliana helped lead Kalamazoo Christian to a 19-5 record while capturing both conference and district championships. She has also made her college decision, committing to Grand Valley, and will now look to finish an already impressive high school career with a strong senior season. With her experience, production and ability to contribute in several areas, Elliana will once again be one of the top players to watch in Division 3 this winter.

Jayna enters her junior season at Shelby after earning Second Team All-State honors as a sophomore and putting together an impressive year for the Tigers. She averaged 19.3 points and 13.8 rebounds per game while also contributing 3.3 steals and 2.2 assists, showing her ability to impact the game in several different areas. Jayna had some big individual performances along the way, including scoring more than 30 points in a win over Ravenna and pulling down 20 rebounds in two different games. She has already played a major role in Shelby's success during her first two high school seasons, helping the Tigers put together a 39-9 record over that span. Last season also included a perfect 12-0 run through the West Michigan Conference Rivers Division. With two seasons still ahead of her and the production she has already shown, Jayna enters her junior year as one of the top returning players in Division 3 and a player I'm excited to continue following.

Madie enters her junior season after earning Second Team All-State honors as a sophomore and putting together a huge year for the Warriors. She averaged 22.5 points, 12.1 rebounds, 5.1 steals and 4.4 assists per game while shooting an impressive 58 percent from the floor. Madie also put her name in the school record book, setting single-season records with 495 points and 266 rebounds. Her ability to impact every area of the game was also on display with two triple-doubles during the season, including a 37-point, 12-rebound and 10-steal performance against Mason County Central. Those numbers show just how versatile and productive she can be on both ends of the floor. Madie has already made her college decision, committing to Indiana Wesleyan with two high school seasons still ahead of her. After everything she accomplished as a sophomore, she enters this winter as one of the top returning players in Division 3 and will be an exciting player to continue watching.

Izzy enters her sophomore season at Cass City after earning Second Team All-State honors during an impressive freshman year. She quickly established herself as a perimeter threat, showing impressive range and knocking down 48 three-pointers during her first high school season. Izzy averaged 13.5 points and 4.6 rebounds per game while playing an important role on a Cass City team that finished 19-6 and captured both district and regional championships. Making that kind of impact as a freshman while contributing to a deep postseason run gave Izzy valuable experience early in her high school career. Her ability to stretch the floor adds an important piece to Cass City's offense and gives defenses another scoring threat they have to account for. With three high school seasons still ahead of her, Izzy has plenty of room to continue developing after an impressive start to her career and will be one of the young Division 3 players I'm excited to keep watching this winter.
