This weekend, I attended the Empire State Takeover Fall Showcase at Union College in Schenectady, NY. 100 of the best prospects from New York were on hand to display their skills. A few players from Vermont and Pennsylvania also attended. Several of the players who attended are currently in the Prep Girls Hoops rankings, making for an exciting day of hoops. Most college coaches would agree that finding quality "Bigs" in the Capital Region is difficult, but there were several talented forwards/centers in the house for this event. Here is a look at my "Best Bigs" from the AM Session.

[player_tooltip player_id='1936036' first='Jayse' last='Keville'] is a rising prospect in the Capital Region, and college coaches are beginning to take notice. Even though at 5'11", I am including her with "The Bigs"; she is more of a tall shooting guard with the size and physicality of a forward. Being left-handed, Keville is very difficult to defend, especially with her quick-release jumper. Keville can score in several ways. Along with her perimeter and mid-range shooting, she uses her strength to muscle her way to the hoop off the dribble. She is very crafty in the paint and finds ways to score. Keville has superior footwork and uses her vision to find scoring opportunities and distribute to teammates. She is a versatile defender who can guard positions 1 through 4.

I have seen [player_tooltip player_id='1884356' first='Bryar' last='White'] play several times over the past few months, and she improves every time I watch her. Defense has always been the strength of White's game, but at the Empire State Takeover event, I was impressed with the gains that she has made offensively. White is a defensive anchor in the paint, who uses her shot-blocking ability to swat away potential buckets. Her quick outlet passes trigger her team's fast break. White runs the floor well and is a strong finisher in transition. White has a smooth shooting touch around the basket. She posts up well and has a strong drop step and spin move back to the middle for easy points.

I have seen [player_tooltip player_id='1186447' first='Madyson' last='Brennan'] play multiple times, both during her high school season and at showcases, and she never disappoints. Brennan is a versatile forward who can score at all three levels. She can play as a post player, but she also has the skill set to step away from the basket. Brennan can connect on jumpers from beyond the arc or in the mid-range. She can score in transition and passes the ball well on the break. She can catch the ball away from the basket and drive on defenders, often utilizing a spin move or Euro Step. She is an outstanding rebounder at both ends of the floor, and adds to her point total on putbacks.

[player_tooltip player_id='1867255' first='Kate' last='Heins'] is much more than a post player, although she is very skilled around the basket. Heins is a very good 3-point shooter with extended range. She is a tireless rebounder and a very good defensive player who can defend multiple positions.
