PGH Wisconsin The Expo Team Seven Evaluations: Part One

The Expo was in the books, and we saw a talented crop of players who headed into Appleton through the fog to play basketball on Sunday. Over the next week or so, we will look at the high school players and highlight what they brought to the floor during the 5v5 portion of the event. We had over 80 players at the Expo, and we will highlight what each did to stand out in their minutes. Let's talk about Team Seven.

The Racine native did some nice things on the defensive end of the floor. I thought Szejna communicated well and showed plenty of confidence as a rising sophomore playing with kids she may not know. She has solid size and has the physical tools to defend multiple positions on any given possession. I also thought she showed promise on that end of the court.

The Janesville Craig native is a talented player who can do a little of everything on both ends of the court. Green is an athletic and physical kid who handles the ball under pressure and creates off the dribble. She also has the tools to be a versatile defender who can guard forwards and guards with the instincts to get her hands on the ball.

The Madison native is a hard-nosed guard who's willing to do the little things to help her team win. She's an undersized kid but plays with a chip on her shoulder. She's a solid athlete who moves her feet well defensively and has the motor to make hustle plays on both ends of the floor. She excels off the ball.

The Madison native is a skilled guard who handles it well at the point of attack. I love how poised Dean-Baker is; she handles the ball well under pressure. She has a knack for creating for others, keeps her head up at all times, and is willing to pick out passes most lead guards wouldn't.

The 5-10 forward is an undersized frontcourt prospect but has the size to handle defending physical players around the basket. McCray is willing to initiate contact and handle herself well on both ends of the floor. I also like how aggressive she is offensively and how she handles playing through contact, which helps her get to the free-throw line. She's an intriguing player who can give her coach options on how they want to defend.
