Southern AZ Showcase Game Impactors

The Southern Arizona Showcase took place on September 20th in Marana, Arizona. Below I'll cover some of the players who were impacted at a high level. Some who are also some of the top college prospects at the event. Meyer in my opinion is one of the top perimeter shooters in the state and the top in Southern Arizona. She showed out in the top 20 game stating the game 3-5 from the perimeter scoring the first 11 points for her team. She earned the top 20 game MVP Award. She shines on the offensive end but is just as dangerous defensively. A shooting guard who makes play in high pressure situations consistently. Extremely coachable and a terrific student athlete. One of the top shooting guards in the state should definitely see her recruitment start gaining momentum this season. Safo is a high academic student who is also a highly impactful player on both sides of the ball. You can almost guarantee Safo will finish a game with a double double. She crashes the boards, rebounding with purpose. She is a gifted and disciplined shot blocker. A strong on ball defender you sets the physical tone of the game. A highly effective scorer whether from the perimeter or using her great skillset to attack the paint. Expect movement in her recruitment soon. The more I watch Wexler play the more confidence I have in her ability to impact at the college level. She can effectively play and defend 1-4. Great confidence in running the offense and has a skilled handle to do so. Has elite awareness and handles opponents' pressure extremely well. Can knock down the deep three at a high level. Impressive post footwork that gives her the advantage in almost any matchup. Does everything you can ask for to help win the game. Terrific leadership and a strong competitor. What makes Pond special is she thrives doing the "dirty work" the things that don't always show up on the stat sheet. Constantly making the hustle plays. A strong rebounder for her position. Takes pride in her defensive play making ability. Vocal and makes great reads and reacts quickly. Terrific help defender. Expect Pond to be a key piece in the success of the Caballeros upcoming season. A hustle player who impacts the overall game. Another Caballero making the list here. Verdugo is coming off an impressive junior season. A very physical and impactful player in the post. Crashes the boards with purpose and is quick to score second chance opportunities. Has a skilled handle and can push the ball in transition. Shows the ability to space the floor and knock down the perimeter shot. Has a very strong motor and plays through adversity. Strong on ball defender and shot blocker. Another player I expect coaches to take notice of this season. Silvester is a high energy guard with a lengthy wingspan. A physical defender who will defend 94 feet. Forces bad passes and will rack up the steals. Has impressive speed and can handle the ball very well. Uses her great vision to find the open look. Can score well from the perimeter but is very effective slicing through the defense and attacking the rim. Plays through contact and can draw the foul consistently. Coming off her junior year where she earned POY honors. Silvester will look to lead the mustangs back to the playoffs in her final season.
