Dighton senior  Lani Speer Lani Speer 5'11" | PF Dighton | 2026 State KS  is returning for her senior year as one of the top, if not the top, defensive forces in the Northwest Kansas League. With her length, timing, and energy, she makes a constant impact around the rim, while her offensive game continues to expand. Speer’s leadership and relentless work ethic set the tone for the Lady Hornets. As she enters her final season, expect her to be the anchor on both ends — a player who impacts games with hustle, communication, and toughness every night.

After repeating as a all-state selection by KBCA, KSHSAA and SIK in 2025 Speer also picked up first team honors from the Northwest Kansas League. One of the state’s leading shot blockers last season at 3.7 per game (3.6 in 2024) she also put up 13.3 points and 8.8 rebounds. She has good length and smartly walls up when challenging shots but where everything starts with is her footwork. Her quickness gets her into position on chopping close-outs and helping from the weak side with her strong peripheral vision. One of the top five 1A D I prospects in the 2026 class, she rose 19 spots and likely is not done yet. Offensively she runs the floor well, flashes across the lane effectively and finishes smoothly. Speer shot 47% from the floor but needs to improve upon her 41% free throw shooting. I would also like to see her show some perimeter shooting chops.

Speer has made her mark defensively, becoming one of the best rim protectors in her class. She alters shots with her timing and length, while also rebounding at a high level. On offense, Speer is an improving scorer around the basket and has the potential to add a reliable mid-range jumper. Her presence in the paint gives Dighton a foundation to build around, and her development will be crucial to her team’s success moving forward.

She has great presence inside the paint, whether she’s owning the paint on offense or protecting it on defense. Her shot-blocking ability impacts the game in an instant, forcing opponents to second-guess drives and post moves. She has great timing, length, and instincts around the rim are elite, and she brings a level of physicality that anchors her team on both ends of the floor. With her skill set continuing to rise and confidence building, She is positioning herself for a breakout senior season that college coaches won’t want to miss.

She’s tall, strong, and possesses exceptional timing when it comes to blocking or altering shots and securing rebounds. Lani also uses her athleticism and length to consistently put herself in scoring position. Heading into the 2025–2026 season, she will be a force to be reckoned with—and don’t be surprised to see her climb to the top of the leaderboards in shot blocks.

Lani is rising as one of the premier shot blockers in the state of Kansas. Last season for the Dighton Hornets, she averaged 3.7 blocks per game. Lani is an incredible athlete with height. These physical attributes complement her shot-blocking skills by allowing her to elevate on the court and maintain body control so as not to foul. She has impeccable reactions, and getting multiple blocks in an offensive sequence is not unheard of. We should expect big things from Lani next year.
