Photo Credit Sam JohnsonIn 2018 Tasia was the starting point guard for the 1st ever Jr. NBA and won the US and World championships. During that same 2018 summer, Tasia ran the point for MO Phenom 16U on the EYBL circuit before moving over to play for 16U UAA Lady Run GMC under Coach Rodney Gilyard as his starting PG. Also having won the 2017 MAYB Nationals. Tasia also received a coveted invite to USA Basketball trials in Colorado, CO earlier this year.
A lot of colleges have noticed the work Tasia has put into her game. She has received offers from both Wichita St. and Furman University. along with interest from Auburn, Indiana State University, Belmont University, Ohio State, Texas State, Syracuse, University of Texas, Boston College and Rutgers University.
Tasia will be looked upon to play an even bigger role this coming season for her Lee’s Summit West Lady Titans. Coming off her freshman season where she averaged 7 points 2 boards and 2 steals per game, the 1st Team All-conference guard will look to help her team improve upon a 20-7 season and defend their Class 5 District 13 championship.
Tasia is a floor general that can control the game from start to finish. She plays at a nice pace and gets after it on the defensive end. Her coaches call her the ‘glue’ that keeps the team playing as one. Having spent time this summer working with Quinton Day and Jeff Harris, Tasia has worked on improving her off the dribble shooting. The lead guard is an outstanding free throw shooter. Shooting it at a 85% rate allows her to be on the floor to close out games.
She excels in the open floor, being able to push the pace and get out on the break. Tasia rebounds well at her position and can get to the basket at will. A knockdown catch and shoot player from both three-point range and in the mid-range. Handles the ball very well and has a strong ability to make plays for her teammates; both in transition and in a half-court set. With her long wiry frame, Tasia uses her length to cause havoc as a lockdown on-ball defender. Very quick to the ball, plays well weak/help defense, and likes to get into passing lanes for easy steals.
The successful teams are always lead by a solid point guard. With her speed, quickness, shooting ability, and how she gets after it on defense. Tasia has set herself apart from the rest of the players in her class. This season is shaping up to be even better for her. With all the work she has put into her game so far, things will undoubtedly keep trending up for Tasia.
