Gem Notes from the Gym

The Freshman is definitely a hidden gem. Mosley has a good understanding of the game and knows how to get her shots off at various levels on the court m. She handles the ball well and has a very nice shot. The young guard also runs the floor well and plays good defense. The young forward protected the rim and got a few blocks in the paint. Thomas brings the energy on both ends of the floor. She excelled at securing rebounds on both ends of the court. On the offensive end, Thomas connected on one out back after securing the offensive rebound. Statistically, Harris didn't overwhelm anyone last week, but you can't ignore the 6'0 Freshman who can run the floor as well as anyone. Firthermore, she is a defensive gem who can impact the game from that side of the floor alone. Harris had a few nice steals and showed flashes of her defensive skillset: speed, quickness, elevation, and the ability to move laterally on the floor. That three point shot leaves her hand looking like “money” every time. Bustos played well in transition and did a good of running the floor and getting in great position to shoot the three. She loads her shot and has a quick release. She came into last week with a 15 point average and was shooting 50 percent from behind the arc. Bustos is a hidden gem with serious talent on the perimeter. She handled the ball well and did a good job of handling pressure all night long. Cross got her team into their offense and also stood out on defense. She was a ball hawk and made it difficult all evening for her opponent to get comfortable handling the ball. Gross made some timely threes down the stretch to help her team close the game. Gross has the ability to get hot and often can string a few threes together. She is fast and does well covering the opposing team's point guard or quickest player. On offense Gross has the ability to make plays for herself and for her teammates.
