Harris continued to show her competitiveness by blocking shots, diving for loose balls, and defending against multiple positions, but the young Forward used the Fall League to improve her ball handling and drives to the rim. Harris will look a lot different this year on the floor, doing a lot of things from the guard position. She was very successful during the Fall League showing a lot of growth to her game. She initiated offense, assisted with ball handling duties, got to the rim and made plays for her teammates. She entered the Fall as a defensive specialist and ended the Fall as a play maker.

Harris still attacks the boards with a purpose and still defends all over the court. Her defensive efforts range from the perimeter to the the paint. She can cover on the perimeter. Can switch a pick and cover guards or forwards and has the foot quickness to prevent drives to the basket. Her length and quickness allow her to block shots and recover even when an opponent may have a step on her. Where the difference really showed at the UNF Camp was on the offensive end. Harris was the focal point of the offense and handled the ball as much as the guards – basically playing the point forward position. Her ability to grab a rebound and go was on display and her footwork and ability to get to the rim was noticeable as well. Harris has definitely stepped up and modified her game, and she was a standout at the camp.

She has the ability to disrupt the opponents entire game plan. Harris just wrapped up her Freshman year and has already established herself as a defender to be reckoned with. Not only can Harris defend on the perimeter, but she can battle on the inside. She averaged 1.5 blocks per game and nearly 6 rebounds per game. It’s not just the stats that are impressive, but the effort she plays with. That alone makes her the anchor of her team’s defense.

Kristoyonna Harris is a 6’0” freshman with tremendous potential. She has natural basketball instincts that set her apart at an early stage.
