Here is a look at the four stars of the game, two from each team.

[player_tooltip player_id='898858' first='Hailey' last='Schmidtlein'], 5'11”, PF, Hayden, ‘28

Schmidtlein is an awesome athlete and was featured today on Prep Dig Kansas in a report on ranked multi-sport athletes. Schmidtlein scored a team-high 19 points and entered the game averaging 14 points per contest. She shot 8-of-13 from the field and converted on two baskets from deep. She has the length and speed to play any position on the court. I have never seen a freshman right-handed basketball player score driving to her left as well as Schmidtlein. She is ranked No. 11 overall in the Kansas Class of 2028 and is ranked No. 1 overall in her class on Prep Dig Kansas.

[player_tooltip player_id='398379' first='Amelia' last='Ramsey'], 6'0”, PF/C, Hayden, '25

Ramsey was clutch late in the game and can score from inside and out. She entered the game averaging 14-plus points per game and scored 17 in the Wildcats win over the Trojans. She hit a clutch 3-point bucket to seal the win for Hayden. The senior forward finished with a team-high eight rebounds and three blocked shots. She is ranked No. 24 in the Kansas Class of 2025. Ramsey has multiple college offers but has yet to choose a college to play for.

[player_tooltip player_id='898363' first='Hailey' last='Caryl'], 5'10”, PF, Topeka High, ‘28

Caryl, a freshman, scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds for Topeka. She is ranked No. 9 overall in the Kansas Class of 2028. She plays well with her back to the basket and drives well along the baseline. She shot a perfect 4-of-4 from the free-throw line and 3-of-7 from the field. She is a physical athlete who passes the ball well. She can improve her recruitment stock by improving her upper-body strength. She is currenlty playing with a hand injury and played gritty ball on both ends of the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='1182698' first='Trish' last='Short'], 5'6”, CG, Topeka High, '26

Short is a talented unranked prospect who I have now seen play back-to-back solid games. She scored four points and grabbed three rebounds against Hayden. She can play the off-guard or small forward. Short battles hard on both ends of the court and scores ugly baskets in key situations. She values the ball more than any of the other guards on the Trojan roster. She can slow down the game and keeps her composure in high-stress possessions. Short is a role player who excels at the part of the game that does not always show up in the box score.
