Saint Albert has been on a tear this season, showing their strength as one of the best teams in the 1A Class thourghout Iowa, if not thee best team. To be considered the best team in any Class, you need able prospects, good coaching, and an hunger to want to be the best. This group possesses that. Someone from their 2027 Class, that I think will help the cause moving forward is [player_tooltip player_id='1190087' first='Lexie' last='Darrington']. Darrington seems to have a solid base as a recruit. Her foundation within the game is sound and something she will be able to build off of moving into AAU season this Spring. This team is dangerous. If they play to their greatest potential, they will be State Champs before you know it and Darrington will be a key piece to that.

[player_tooltip player_id='884235' first='Shayla' last='Rautenberg'] of Milford High School is not only an interesting prospect on the basketball hardwood but she is also one on the Volleyball court as well with her natural size and athleticism at 6'2. Rautenberg is a natural with her hand-eye coordination, height, and ability to adapt in a quick amount of time within a situation. She is not only an offensive weapon with this advantage, she is also a menace on the defensive end with her ability to block or alter shots near the basket. Opponents really have to think twice when attacking the paint because of Rautennberg and what she could do in the blink of an eye. There is still a long way to go within her career but I wouldn't be surprised if this is someone that will be offered to play both Basketball and Volleyball at the college level at some point.

We have only seen a small sample size of what [player_tooltip player_id='1093377' first='Maizey' last='Macke'] can do on the varsity floor but from what we have seen, Macke is going to be a solid piece for PLVS High School for the next 3.25 years. Macke has solid athletic ability, a smart head on her shoulders, a high motor, a better than average work ethic, and room to grow into this game for years to come. With her smooth moves and willingness to work in her off-season, this could turn into a game changer at PLVS coming into her Sophomore season next Winter. They will return several talented players so if they come correct with the right coaching, they should continue to trend upwards as a whole and individually as overall prospects. Watch out for Macke on the road this Spring/Summer with her [program_tooltip program_id='712709' first='Nebraska' last='Attack'] program following the high school season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1190090' first='Natalie' last='Smith'] of Winterset High School hit the 1000 point mark for her career a few weeks ago during her varsity contest. Smith, a 5'8 CG, is someone that plays the 3 spot more-so on the high school floor with a high level rebounding ability. She might only be 5'8 but she rebounds at a consistent rate like she is actually 6'0. This ability also displays her hard-work and patience. This is someone that isn't going to try and do something that is out of the normal for herself. She takes what is given to her by the defense. That's always nice to see because it shows that the prospect is letting the game come to them in a sense and everything seems to flow a little more smoothly in the long run. With the Huskies Smith is second in PPG on the season, while being a constant in almost every positive statistical category you can name. A pretty impressive thing to note as she is a sophomore and only going to get better with time/experience.

Depending on what program you are in and the path of your individual journey, you might not play a ton of varsity as a freshman and that is perfectly ok. Someone that is doing a great job of playing the minutes they are given at the JV/Reserve level is [player_tooltip player_id='896716' first='Mya' last='Sawyer'] of Westview High School. Sawyer is only out of the 2028 Class and she competes at the PF position. Sawyer is a beast. She understands to play physical ball under-near the hoop, she knows footwork, she knows what moves work in what situations, and she works really hard defensively to hold her own in every moment of the contest. Over-time this is a player that could turn into a solid CG or even SF, depending on what skills she works on. It's really up to how determined she is and what he goals might be looking into this Spring.
