Standout Forwards at Demetrius Richardson Showcase

The 5th Annual Demetrius Richardson Showcase brought together a lot of talented prospects from North, Central, and South Florida. In this article, we hi-light some of the power forwards and wing players who stood out at the Showcase.    [player_tooltip player_id='873422' first='Cherish' last='Wiggins'] was an impressive prospect at the Demetrius Richardson Showcase. Wiggins pressed up on the ball with extremely aggressive defense. She has active and strong hands and has the ability to rip the ball away if you hold it for too long. Wiggins is athletic and can really move her feet. She also ran the floor well and finished well on the break. She goes hard to the rim and has the ability to get to score and get to the free-throw line.       [player_tooltip player_id='843397' first='Karli' last='Torres'] looked impressive on the floor and was making plays on both ends of the floor. Torres excels on the glass. This past season she had 9 games of 9 or more rebounds, and she averaged over 7 rebounds per game. At the showcase, Torres was a force on the inside and not much scoring was happening while she was in the paint. She sent a few shots the other way and showed she can score on the inside on the offensive side. Torres has good size and strength and is an athletic power forward - center. The Sophomore has a lot of upside and should have a breakout AAU season with all of her attributes.     [player_tooltip player_id='1090647' first='Delissa' last='Morris'] was a force at the showcase and “what can't she do on the court?” Morris was just that impressive on both ends of the floor. On offense, she took it to the basket strong and had the ability to finish through a lot of contact. She plays a physical style of game and doesn't run from physical play, but looks for it. She had the ability to finish on the inside and was crafty with the finishes. On defense she had some impressive steals. Morris has strong and active hands and gets her share of steals.       [player_tooltip player_id='463719' first='Yahri' last='Tyler'] was one of the most impressive prospects in the building. Tyler's athleticism just jumps off the page. She is a force anywhere close to the basket. Her athleticism shows up on the offensive glass. Her ability to track the ball and get off the ground quickly allows her to excel on the boards. Offensively, Tyler can get to the basket in a straight line and also with the ability to put a move on a defender. One move at the Showcase that comes to mind was a baseline move and spin to the rim after the baseline was cutoff. Tyler has the ability to make plays that not many can make. At the showcase, she made plays all over the place. People in the room paid attention and Tyler was noticed. She is going to be a player to watch this travel season.       [player_tooltip player_id='400813' first='Asiana' last='McCreary'] drained a three point shot in sudden death overtime to give her team the “W”. McCreary is a versatile player who runs the floor well and can score in the transition game. McCreary can also score in the paint, especially when facing the basket. She has the ability to shoot the midrange shot, and also step out behind the arc and shoot the three. Defensively, McCreary can cover on the perimeter and also can defend in the paint. She is a very good helpside defender, and can block shots.     [player_tooltip player_id='1091383' first='Seanna' last='Crooks'] stood out at the forward spot and really showed a lot of versatility to her game. Throughout the season, Crooks ran the floor well and showed a lot of versatility to her game. She has an inside game, she can pull-up in the midrange area, and she is a power forward who scan run the floor and get buckets in the transition game. Crooks showcased other aspects of her game, including the ability to grab the rebound and go. She has the ability to lead the break and can create plays for herself and others with the ball in her hands.     [player_tooltip player_id='514584' first='Casey' last='O'Connell'] was impressive and showed her ability to score on the outside. O'Connell was one of the top shooters in the building. She handles the ball well and knows how to make plays for herself and for other players. O'Connell is a versatile scorer who can also rebound well. She has the potential be a double double player.
