There was a handful of impressive players that are new to Prep Girls Hoop Washington and are deserving of recognition and some level of college recruitment.
New Prospects Spotted at Fitz Tourney:
2020 5’11 SF Michael Pitts (Central Valley HS) – Somehow, Michael Pitts has flown under our radar in the Spokane area. She has nice size at the wing position and can impact the game in a variety of ways. She showed some step throughs, euro steps and nice finishes around the basket. She could benefit from some more strength, but she is a really solid prospect for a small college.
2020 5’5 PG Anika Chalich (Central Valley HS) – Aika was a standout from day one of the event, pouring in 16 points and showing off a fine tuned offensive skill set. She can hit the three ball or mid range shot. Another player that is not in our current 2020 Washington rankings, but will be in the next update.
2022 6’0 F Claire Untalan (St. Signatius HS) – Claire was a pleasant surprise coming up from California. She has great length and hands in a long, but thinner frame. She is mobile side to side and up and down the floor. She has the ability to hit the one footed leaning shot with tight pressure on her, showing some creativity to get her own shot off. A definite college prospect with the exact level to be determined.
2022 5’8 G Sabrina Ma (St. Ignatius HS) – A lot of the pre game talk was about teammate Rachel Harvey (CSUN signee) but Sabrina was a big time standout from day one. She was a lot more quiet on day two, but skill is skill and she has that. She can handle it, break her man down off the bounce and make plays for herself or teammates. She finished with 27 points versus a tough University team.
2023 6’0 F Lainey Spears (Beaverton HS) – Moves her feet well laterally and has great length. Appears to be the next one up out of Beaverton High School. Playing on a team that has multiple good upperclassmen, she finds her way onto the floor and competes in her role. Projects as a three at the next level.
