I watched a good deal of high school basketball last season, whether it was in person or from a live stream. I was also the play-by-play commentator for Central High School basketball in Little Rock, so I saw plenty of incredible performances and hoopers. For this article, I will focus on some of the top guards I saw who are making a return to their teams in 2025-26.

I saw [player_tooltip player_id='1090347' first='Traniyah' last='Weston'] hoop twice last season, and now I have been watching her AAU highlights. It is safe to say, once Weston returns as the starting point guard for the Lady Wampus Cats next season, she will be better than ever.

Weston had a tremendous sophomore season, averaging 12 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 steals per game. She was active on both ends of the floor all night, and it was never easy to keep her off the floor at any stage of the game.

The star guard is a fantastic finisher who can seemingly convert at the rim against any competitor, whether a guard or a center. One of the new elements of her game that she has added this offseason with Team ISO has been her pull-up mid-range jumper. She can hit this shot consistently off the bounce and in the lane, even showing that she can stop on a dime and hit the jumper in transition.

[player_tooltip player_id='1090347' first='Traniyah' last='Weston'] can hit from inside and outside, make plays for others, rebound at a high level, and make life difficult for the other team on the defensive end. She made her presence felt in every game I saw her in, and I doubt that changes in 2025-26.

Another point guard from the 6A Central that I saw twice last season was [player_tooltip player_id='1090334' first='Lauren' last='Brewster']. She was at her best when Central High School traveled across the Arkansas River to face North Little Rock, and she hit the eventual game-winning shot while wreaking havoc on the defensive end.

During that game-winning possession, Brewster kept her composure better than some seniors. She held on to the basketball through traffic, then, when the lane opened up and she had an open look, she held her concentration and finished the easy layup.

Seeing that type of composure from such a young player in a critical game is valuable, especially if she is going to have the ball in her hands more often down the stretch. Not only can she finish inside, but she has shown that she can knock down the perimeter shot. Though that part of her game is still improving, her impressive handle allows her to get to any spot on the floor, and she has the ability to score any way she can.

[player_tooltip player_id='1090334' first='Lauren' last='Brewster']'s stock is trending upward, and now, after playing great with her AAU squad, [program_tooltip program_id='1144714' first='Team' last='ICON'], her junior season is looking more and more like a breakout.

Another star guard from North Little Rock is the sharpshooter [player_tooltip player_id='876286' first='Katie' last='Fimple'], whom I also watched twice last season.

As alluded to in the previous paragraph, Fimple is one of the conference's best 3-point shooters. If she has an open look from beyond the arc, you better believe she will be knocking it down. The same goes for her mid-range game, as she is just as dangerous to knock down a jumper just a step inside the arc.

On the other end of the floor, Fimple plays hard defense for all 32 minutes. She moves her feet effectively, staying in front of her assignment all game long, picking up steals along the way thanks to her active hands.

[player_tooltip player_id='876286' first='Katie' last='Fimple']'s role will increase in 2025-26 after Kinley Mears graduated and went on to Texas-Dallas. NLR fans cannot wait to see Fimple light up the box score again, but the rest of the 6A Central could wait a little longer.

I watched [player_tooltip player_id='1090888' first='Keila' last='Dailey'] three times last season, once in a live stream of Bryant's matchup with Nettleton, and twice in person against Little Rock Central. She had different performances in every game, but I was still impressed each time.

Against Nettleton, Dailey got going from beyond the arc, solidifying herself as one of the best 3-point shooters in the 2028 class. However, in both matchups against Central, she struggled to find open looks from outside. Most freshmen would have folded, and their night would have practically been over, but not Dailey.

Dailey showed tremendous maturity when tasked with leading Bryant in those tough games against the Lady Tigers. She had no problem leading the point, making accurate passes, and finding all sorts of ways to get her teammates involved. She was also finding ways to get to the basket, where she showed poise and toughness against a physical defense.

Like I said, each matchup was a little different for [player_tooltip player_id='1090888' first='Keila' last='Dailey']. But one thing was certain: she was one of the most impactful players every time she stepped out onto the floor.

Since I am based out of the Little Rock Metropolitan area, it is difficult for me to watch teams out of Northwest Arkansas in person. However, Springdale Har-Ber took a trip to Conway to face Vilonia in a tournament for their first game of the season. There, I got to watch [player_tooltip player_id='1090299' first='Makenlie' last='Campbell'] and her twin sister in action.

Campbell is an excellent scorer who got herself going in the first half of that game against the Lady Eagles. She had 8 points heading into halftime. In that game and all of her other great performances throughout her sophomore year, she showed grit and determination when attacking the basket, finishing in any way she could.

Campbell is just as dangerous from the outside as she is from the lane. She is an excellent 3-point shooter who only needs to see one shot go in for her to have a big night. On the other end of the floor, Campbell is a well-known pest, picking up multiple steals a night after applying suffocating defensive pressure.

[player_tooltip player_id='1090299' first='Makenlie' last='Campbell'] recently picked up an offer from South Alabama, and I imagine she will pick up more D1 offers soon.

Like her sister, [player_tooltip player_id='1090312' first='Madisen' last='Campbell'] is a great two-way player who also stood out in the contest against Vilonia.

Campbell led the way with her scoring in that game, putting up 14 points, knocking down 4 3-pointers. She was getting great looks from outside and taking advantage of those open shots.

On the defensive end, Campbell did an incredible job keeping Vilonia's guards from getting into rhythm. She pressured them for all 32 minutes, played with active hands, and dove on the floor after loose balls. Her great play on the defensive end was apparent throughout the rest of the season, as she earned all-defensive honors in the conference.

[player_tooltip player_id='1090312' first='Madisen' last='Campbell'] has also picked up an offer from South Alabama, and she will sway more colleges with her excellent two-way ability this coming year.

These guards were fun to watch last season. Chances are, I will be seeing several of these players again.
