Mariah McLaurin has the kind of game that fits “Making Plays, Earning Attention.” The 2027 Northwest Rankin guard brings a strong handle, creates opportunities for her teammates, and takes pride in making opponents work on defense. Her energy and competitive approach have earned recognition in previous scouting coverage, and that combination gives her several ways to contribute. prepgirlshoops.com As a coach, I value a guard who can get others involved and bring that same determination to getting a stop. That’s what makes McLaurin an intriguing prospect. Scoring gets attention, but being able to run an offense, compete defensively, and help the players around you carries weight with coaches. Mariah has a foundation worth watching, and I’m looking forward to seeing where she takes her game next. Keep working, Mariah—give them more reasons to remember your name!

Mariah was a ball of energy all day. She is an elite ball handler, an elite defender, an elite facilitator and on top of all that she has an amazing basketball attitude and demeanor. There were no easy possessions for anyone she was guarding. She is a high level player with undeniable skill and grit. Her upside is endless. On top of all the tangibles, she checks the intangible boxes as well. She is a hooper with the perfect mix of basketball skill, poise and aggression. She was a joy to watch compete.
