The Expo: Team 2 Evaluations

We had approximately 50 Sophomores through Seniors in the gym at MidAmerica East on Sunday morning. Here's a breakdown of team 2's roster after getting to watch them play at the camp.    Greta was a new name to me and I got more and more impressed with her as the day went on. Bradstreet is a good playmaker with a clear basketball IQ but what I appreciated is how hard she played all day long. Whether it was 3 on 3 or 5 on 5, Greta gave tremendous effort all day long.     Hughes is one of the top players in the state's Sophomore class and didn't do anything to change that at camp. She played at a high level, made shots and showed advanced playmaking skills all day long and showed she can run an offense in the full court or when having to orchestrate a little more in the half court.     A very solid player who is likely due for a big move up the rankings in the next update, Avery impressed me over the course of the day at camp. Thompson did not immediately jump off the court at me but over the course of the afternoon, I started to appreciate all the little things she does for her team to impact winning.     Kyleigh was one of my top performers at the camp and I think she has what college commentators refer to as "winning DNA". Stakelin just does a lot of things well and it leads to her teams winning games consistently. Whether it's rebounding the ball, making smart passes or knocking down open shots, Kyleigh does a little bit of everything and does it all well.     Another of my top performers from Sunday. She scored a lot of points and played really well but perhaps the most impressive thing about Kaydence is the fact that her motor never stops running. She plays hard every second she's on the court! That's the sort of winning mentality that will help Kindle long term.     One of the top ranked Juniors in the state, Knowles has a ton of potential thanks to her size, length and ability to switch on the defensive end. Jaelee had a good showing at camp even though she didn't get a ton of shots on the day. She's shown that she doesn't need to have a huge scoring day to impact the game on both ends of the court.     Looking back at my notes, Aubree had a really good day. She established herself as a really good rebounder and also knocked down several shots on the offensive end. Walker needs to continue to be as efficient of a scorer as she was at camp. When she takes what comes to her and doesn't force the issue, Aubree is a player to keep an eye on this season.     One of the few true "bigs" of the event, Martin showed that she can establish herself on the low block and is a capable low post scorer. Kinleigh has the opportunity to be a big time rebounder when she goes after every missed shot and doesn't wait for them to come to her. Long term, I think Kinleigh is worth some college looks thanks to her size and ability.
