You can just tell this kid is a gamer. A smart player who takes calculated risks; she is always in a position to make a difference. She got after it on the defensive end. Not only was she a solid defender, but she was always in a stance, making someone who got past their defender alter their course, and she rotated magnificently. She hunted great shots, didn’t get rattled, and played with poise. Offensively, she was solid. You could tell that she’s a scoring threat, especially how she set up along the perimeter. She’s a kid who plays with some swagger, isn’t afraid to get after it, and will be an important piece to her team this season. Look for her to continue to grow and become a name to keep tabs on this year.

There is a lot to like about Coker’s game, but the easily the most impressive aspect is her shooting ability from outside. Amelia has excellent form and follow through on her jumpshot which allows for the consistency players and coaches are looking for. Coker did not need a lot of time or space to get her shot off, but did not force shots that weren’t there. Instead, Coker kept the ball moving on the perimeter and stayed in perpetual motion making herself an open target often. Coker was very good defensively and worked hard on both the offensive and defensive boards.

Coker is a bigger wing, and pairs that size with good instincts. That combo allows her to generate turnovers often. One of her better defensive games last season was against Houston County High School, where she had four steals.

Coker, also in her first year of high school hoops, showed promise offensively. She is a capable 3-point shooter and can be a physical scorer in the paint.

That skill is the ability to generate space without taking a dribble. In three-on-three at the TN Expo, Coker utilized her jab step effectively and worked her offense game from it. At the event, she also showed she is an accurate mid-range shooter as well as a three-point shooter.

Her offensive game is adavanced for her class and she has real potential to be a great scorer in high school basketball.
