Dakota as a seventh grader put up one of the most amazing first half performances of any player regardless of class while playing up 15U against the Cap City Ballerz. She scored in a variety of ways from inside hand reverses, mid-range jumpers and floaters, rebound putbacks and three pointers. She slowed down a little in the second half but still made plays repeatedly on both ends.

Dakota, a guard out of Urbana Middle, will be stepping up to the 15U level, where she’s already showing encouraging growth as a decision-maker with the ball. Whether pushing in transition or operating in the half court, she’s beginning to read the game and make the right plays.
With continued reps and confidence, Dakota should be well prepared by July for high school tryouts. Her development at the guard position puts her in position to compete for an upperclassmen starting spot, especially if she continues to value possessions and control the pace.
