Juniors to Know Heading Into the 2025-26 Season

The season tips off later this evening, and before I head out to my first game of the high school season, between Edgerton and Poynette, I'd like to highlight a few players before I hit the road. I'll continue discussing players who I feel deserve some recognition all season, but here are a few more names to know heading into the 2025-26 season.   [player_tooltip player_id='747942' first='Josie' last='Piurkowski']   The Brookfield East junior will begin her second season with the Spartans this week. Piurkowski is a player who can swing games in a few possessions offensively. Her ability to space the floor is as good as anyone's, and as she gets into a rhythm, she has more range than 99% of players in Wisconsin. After a season, during which I thought she improved on the defensive end, she could continue to find her footing in the Spartans' offense and give them a shot to make a deep postseason run.   [player_tooltip player_id='874383' first='Brianna' last='Breese']   The Notre Dame wing/forward didn't have a massive role in her first season with Tritons to start the season last winter. However, after some injuries, Breese carved out a role for herself and was among the most impressive players down the stretch of the regular season. The Triton was a double-double threat each time she stepped on the floor and showed that she could space the floor as a four or five in her minutes. I'd expect her to be a prominent piece this season for a Tritons group looking to get back to the Resch Center.   [player_tooltip player_id='914983' first='Beanie' last='Thompson']   The Edgewood wing is a player who can do a little of everything on each end of the court. She is a hard-nosed player who will do all the little things needed to win games at the highest level of high school basketball. Thompson has been one of my favorite players to watch when she's at her best. Few players can affect games without needing to score at the level of Thompson, and her effort is something that any coach would love to have on their roster.   [player_tooltip player_id='874375' first='Aubryn' last='Clark']   After a season where Clark missed most of the season due to injury, she is hopefully 100% heading into her first season with her sister, Teagan. Clark is a physical guard who can knock down shots at a high level when she finds space to get her shot off.  I don't think we've seen her at her best at the high school level quite yet, and in a season where the Great Northern Conference is up for grabs, Clark could lead the Hodags to the top of the conference.
