9- Belvidere vs. 20- Sussex Tech, 11 AM
Belvidere will enter this tournament as a single-digit seed but they have lost three in a row. They recently dropped a tough game to South Hunterdon. They will look to rebound when it matters most. Senior Brieann Opdyke leads the team scoring 15.5 points per game. Sophomore Nora Dornich has also made an impact on the offensive end. Sussex Tech hit a rough patch in the middle of their schedule but they have won their last two games heading into this tournament.
12- South Hunterdon vs. 17- Hopatcong, 5:15 PM
South Hunterdon is a team getting hot at the right time. They have won three of four including a big win over Belvidere. Junior Rebecca Phillips has been the leader during their current streak. It has been a struggle as of late for Hopatcong who started the season 6-5 but have lost five in a row. Sophomore Christy Brennan is averaging 19.1 points per game. She will need to carry her team if they want to move onto the first round.
13- Kittatinny vs. 16- Hackettstown, 10:00 AM
Kittatinny has lost six of seven games entering the tournament but will be the higher seed. Hackettstown has alternated between a win and loss in their last six games. Their most recent game was a loss to Hanover Park. Freshman Rylie Grant will try and lead a young Hackettstown team to an upset victory to move on in the tournament.
14- Delaware Valley vs. 15- Lenape Valley, 11:00 AM
This is the best game of the day on paper. Delaware Valley has won three of five coming into the tournament. Senior Shelby Pyatt is scoring 10.3 points per game to lead her team followed by sophomore Carol Anne Bredeson. Pyatt and Lenape Valley’s Brienna Pangborn will be an intriguing matchup to watch in this one. Both are skilled players who know how to put the ball in the basket.
11- Phillipsburg vs. 18- High Point, 11:00 AM
Phillipsburg has just five wins on the season but has won their last two games by an average of 16 points. They will have a really tough matchup with Rutgers Prep before taking on High Point. High Point will need their sophomores to show up in this one. Noelle Gaffney and Leia Ruvo have been offensive powerhouses all season long.
10- Hunterdon Central vs. 19- Vernon, 3:00 PM
Hunterdon Central will enter as a dark-horse team that hopes to make some noise in this one. Sophomore Jessica Mastriano has led the team in scoring all season and she will be needed in this one if they want to move on. Vernon is starting to turn their season around. They have won two of three after a really tough start. Their most recent win came in a close affair with Sussex Tech. Frshman Danica Williams will look to slow down Mastriano and match her production.
