The first week of the high school season is in the books, and yesterday I posted the first week of polls in all five divisions across Wisconsin. Today, we'll continue to highlight a few of the standouts of the opening week of the 2025-26 season and talk about what they bring to the floor. There are plenty of players who have had excellent performances this past week, but we'll look at four players in particular.

[player_tooltip player_id='509692' first='Brooklyn' last='Maves']

The Evansville native has developed nicely in her first handful of seasons at the high school level. Maves is a physical player who can create problems for opposing guards at the point of attack. She was able to force mistakes out of opposing guards and generated transition points by using her motor defensively. However, Maves is one of the better perimeter shooters in the South-Central part of the state, who can win her team games with her perimeter shooting.

[player_tooltip player_id='814306' first='Devin' last='Larson']

The Hudson guard had a standout performance in her first game of her junior season against St. Paul Como Park. Larson looks more confident than she has in the last two seasons and doesn't hesitate when the ball is in her hands. She made good decisions with the ball offensively, got her teammates involved, and knocked down a handful of perimeter jumpers. That junior class at Hudson has a chance to put together a special season this winter.

[player_tooltip player_id='764909' first='Haylie' last='Dulas']

The Kimberly wing is a talented two-way player who can make an impact anywhere she's put on the floor. She's been a trusted defensive piece for the Papermakers since she stepped on campus, and has been a reliable defensive player ever since. However, she also has the skillset to be an offensive force when needed. She can knock down shots from all over the perimeter and attack the basket when defenses close out too aggressively. Coaches all around the state have nothing but positive things to say about Dulas' game.

[player_tooltip player_id='978272' first='Eva' last='Englebert']

The River Falls native missed her first high school basketball season due to injury. However, she proved to be a key piece for the Wildcats in their opening win against Baldwin-Woodville. Englebert is a talented perimeter shooter who can space the floor whenever she's on the court and can score as a lead guard or as a secondary playmaker, attacking recovering defenses or knocking down catch-and-shoot opportunities. She'll be a player to keep an eye on in the Big Rivers Conference.
