SW District Sectional Preview- D4 @ Sidney

Not a lot are known about some of the smaller schools in these brackets yet, but there are some teams that look to challenge deep into the tournament as the sectionals get underway on Saturday. <span style="font-size: 18pt"><strong>Sidney D4 Sectionals</strong></span> 11:00 am- In the Sidney sectionals, <strong>Lehman </strong>opens their tournament with a battle against <strong>Houston</strong> as the #4 seed Cavaliers look to improve on their 14-6 record. Senior Rylie McIver leads the way for the Cavs, as she is a quick aggressive guard who can disrupt a game with her speed. She is also a strong defensive player and solid leader. Another player to watch for them is Lauren McFarland who is capable of putting up a big game for her Cavs. Houston is 4-15 on the season and hopes to contain the Cavs in their opening game at 11:00 on Saturday. The winner of that game gets #3 <strong>Botkins</strong> who brings in Carmen Heuker, a fiery guard who also can score and defend. She is one of the top sophomore guards in the area. 12:30 pm- <strong>Mechanicsburg</strong> brings in their #2 seed and 20-2 record as the favorites in the upper bracket. Senior Kasey Schipfer is among the top D4 players in Ohio, and she put together a great season. Can run the floor and get in position well, shoots the three with consistency and can get to the rim. Junior Grace Forrest is another guard that makes this team tough to defend. Excellent perimeter game and sees the floor well. They will play <strong>Russia </strong>who is 9-10 and the #5 seed. The Raiders are traditionally a solid tournament team. Two players who stand out for Russia are 5-10 senior Jessica York and 5-8 junior Ashley Scott. They are a good combo who can carry this team if needed. Should be a fun opening game. The winner of this game gets #10 <strong>Mississinawa Valley</strong> who was 3-17 at the draw. 2:00 pm- <strong>Fairlawn </strong>battles <strong>Jackson Center</strong> in what could be a very competitive game. Fairlawn is led by 5-7 sophomore guard Lonna Heath, who is capable to a big night as she has proven this season. She is a good set shooter who is developing her game. Jackson Center comes in with some competitive kids who are hungry for a tournament win. The winner of this game plays #8 <strong>Riverside</strong> in the second round. 3:30 pm- In the final game of the day on Saturday, #12 <strong>Ansonia </strong>battles #11 <strong>Triad</strong> for the right to play #1 <strong>Fort Loramie </strong>in the second round. Ansonia has three wins on the season and has struggled in the CCC. Triad has won four times, and brings in senior twins Frani and Cati LeVan. Frani is scoring at 14.2 points per game, Cati at 11. Both can score and make things happen. Fort Loramie looks unstoppable in the early going, as their defense is relentless and doesn’t give up points only allowing 22 ppg. Senior <a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/player/marissa-meiring/">[player_tooltip player_id="89273" first="Marissa" last="Meiring"]</a> is a solid 5-10 wing who can score at the rim. They also have Kennedi Gephart, Taylor Ratermann, Kenzie Hoelscher , [player_tooltip player_id="159039" first="Dana" last="Rose"], [player_tooltip player_id="159381" first="Ava" last="Sholtis"] among several others who are capable of a big game. &nbsp; &nbsp;
